Need 351 Cleveland info....

So, I was recently given a 1973 Gran Torino Wagon, that has been sitting in a guys "yard" for 12 years. No rust, no dents, flawless interior, and a 351 Cleveland. Now, I was wondering a few things about the Cleveland. It has the 2bbl carb, which makes it the 2v obviously. But, what is the difference between the 2v and 4v? I know the 4v has bigger valves and ports, but thats it. Anything else? Remember, I'm just here for motor info.

The 2V cleveland is better for daily driving, The heads are good from Idle to 5500

Just remember when buying a 4V intake for the 2V head that you get a 4V intake for a 2V Cleveland.

The 4V Heads good for 2500 to 7500 RPM

The Cleveland use the same motor mounts and Bell house set as a 289/302/351W

So you can use the 289/302 C4

So, would having the main bearing caps drilled out for a 4-bolt setup be difficult? Also, when the 2v is uppgraded to a 4bbl intake, and a set of headers w/ 3" exhaust, does it produce desired power?

Fords dont need 4 bolt main caps. The crank is very well supported.

3" exhaust would be a waste, 2 1/2" be just fine.

You just need to think about what you are trying to build.

If you are building a blown alcohol motor we would do alot of thing diffirent.

What I think you are trying to do is build a great cruzier with good power that you can drive every day.

What we need is Carb 750cfm holly, Intake, Headers, Cam 280/280 .512 110lc, compression 10:1/1

Just need to have a good game plan. Money goes quikly.

Good Luck

IF you run 4v heads a set of torque plates is money well spent.

On both 2V & 4V heads
1. Upgrade the valves to 1 piece stainless
2. Hardened seats on the exhaust.
3. 7/16" stud mounted adjustable rockers, guide plates, & hardened push rods.
4. Roller tip rockers are best.
5. Major porting isn't required but clean up the surfaces & casting lines with 80 grit.
6. 4V heads work best with a dual grind cam like Comp Cams XE series or Lunati VooDoo.
7. Get a cam designed to work in the RPM ranges listed by Mustangeone.
8. With the heavy wagon I would build for low end torque. That means 2V heads.
EB Performer intake & 650cfm Performer carb. 2V headers & 2 1/5" dual exhaust.
Cams - Lunati 7111 or 62502, Comp Cams XE262H or 268H.
