302 build
I have a 302 that when i bought it the guy said that it was out of a 68 cop car. Im not sure on the spec but the cam is a pretty big one. The engine was built but his dad and it runs very strong. Has a elderbrock intake and 650 carb. I want to reuild it after the paint job is done. These are my two plans for it and depending on which way i go, i need options for both.
1st- bore it out and stroke it and go all motor with the biggest cam i can have so it can still be driven everyday. 2nd (leaning towards this one)- Put a vintage or paxton supercharger on it and still maybe stroke it at same time. Now i need to make sure the engine can hold all this seeing as though i dont want to have to take it out more then once. Im not goiing to be doing the work because im not to familiar with the engine work just yet. I mainly want to know what to buy to make it very strong and then ill take to the engine builder to assemble. Thanks Guys\

If you're wanting driveability and as much power as possible, forced induction is the way to go. Making big power with a small motor, and a big cam is tough, and you're walking a fine line with the whole "biggest cam i can have so it can still be driven everyday" idea.

You just need to know what you would like to do, Drive, Strip, spin tires, & gas milage
build a good short block. Rods, Pistons, Crank. 9.8:1 Then Look at heads, Start at $400 new heads Intake $250 Carb $375 that will do alot for you. Student, Blowers, superchagres, Alot of money. Look at NOS does the same thing less cost, you can have the extra power when you really need it. The main thing is what do you want the car to do. Drive 85% Performance 15%. It it hard making the best of both. Or you can just go with 427W for $5900 Just things to think about. |
