How much compression?

Does a block have a specific compression rate its suppose to be at.I mean I know it has a compression rate. But if i do a cylinder test on each cylinder whats the rate its suppose to surpass, or is it all tha same for all cars? Some one told me as long as you have over 120psi it should be good but then I hear 90psi is good aslo so I dunno.

I assume you're talking about a leak down check. Every engine is going to be different, and just because it doesn't hold 120 doesn't mean it's bad. As long as all the cylinders are within 5-10 psi of each other, you'll be ok.

Yes the leakdown test.So anywere from 5-10 psi difference is ok. Then should i be concerned about what the proper spec is.The reason im asking is cause when i bought this car from a friend he had said they just put the enginne in not long before I bought it but it was sitting in his back yard for at least 2 yrs prior to me buying it from him.So Im just checking all the bases to make sure this engine will last me for awile untile i get the engine that i want.
