autometer cobalt gauges

I just ordered 2 autometer gauges from jegs, 1 electric oil pressure gauge and 1 water temp electric gauge. Now i recieved the sending units for the gauges but they didnt come with the wiring harness's. Where do i get the harness or should my gauge of come with them. Please let me know. Also how should i go about wiring them up to my 65 mustang?

I have a 64 1/2 hardtop, and my plan is to run my own new wire for anything that isn't stock direct to the sending units. My original plan was to convert from the Falcon panel to the GT. Initially,it seems logical to replace the wiring harness there as well with a 66 harness. BUT-then you must also change the heater control to a 3 speed switch and I believe the heater motor as well. It gets complicated in a hurry!
And when you start to disect the old wiring, it's something like one of those mummy preservation shows on Discovery. Everything starts to disintegrate in your hands. Unless you are re wiring the whole car, I'd suggest you just hardwire the new gages yourself.

The wires are already there, the oil is the white/ red stripe and the temp is the Red with white Stripe. on the dash the 12V swith is off the back of the ing switch or the black with green stripe going to the voltage reg on the back of the dash 12v side. no need to run new wires.

Super 64 you can add a GT or a 66 dash to your car with little effort. the ony gauge that is any trouble is the amp gauge. every thing else just hooks up.

Hi Mustang One,
Are you saying I use the same wire and sending unit that attaches to the oil light now? Thanks!
I was told that the amp meter will connect to my ignition switch.
Thanks,
Brian

Ok im confused. What wireing harness do i need to hook up the autometer gauges. I want to keep the stock gauges ang have them work along side of my autometer gauges. Someone from another forum said i need the wireing harness that come with the gauges to hook them up but i never recieved one with my gauges. Where do i get it from.

ok your oil light if you want to keep it. you will need to add a Y at the oil sending unit. the sending unit for a light and a guage are diffrent, then you will need to run a new wire to the new sending unit to make the new guage work alone with you oil light.

Just wondering why you like to have 2 temp guages, but you can splice into you red with/white wire take goes to your temp sensor. and if you really want to you can install your second temp sensor and run a new wire to it also.
To person that said that autometer guages come with wiring harness, idk Mine never does. wiring up the guages is easy you need 12V a Ground and a Signal wire and 1 light. the Dash Light is the Lightblue with red stripe. Like always you can call me.

you will have to change the oil sending unit a Gauge and a Light oil sending unit is diffrent. with the gauge style sending unit you will need the extentoin for it also.

On your amp guage there is 2 diffrent types of amp gauges, one is a loop reader that is a 1965 style with is the rare one. The 1966 is a current reader.
the amp gauge is not a volt meter, so you can just hook it up to a power sorce.
That is why I said it is more difficalt to make the amp gauge work correctly.

with a amp gauge read current drawn and most 1966 gauges are burned up.
