c4 transmission

i have a 1969 mustang with a c4 tranny and was wondering if a c4 tranny from a 1979 mercury zephyr would work with my car.
thanks!

yes, the imput spline is the same and everything!

Difference is only how the tranny is filled... some are case filled and some are pan filled... 64.5-69 are case filled

Ok the bell housing of a 1966 and up 289,302,351C,351W are all the same 6 bolt and will mount all the same transmissions. The only thing you have to look out for is at 1979 or 80 the Fly wheel is larger 164 tooth instead of the 157 tooth. and went to 50 oz balance, instead of the old 28 oz. you can buy a 50 oz 157 tooth fly wheel.

And if you have one out of a colum shift zepher the shifter arm on the trans will be diffrent but can be modified.

IDK what Katen is talking about, "pft if I know".
