best rear end for me? : )
I have a 65 fastback with a new crate 302 that gets 340 hp. I intend to put a t-5 with it as well. I dont like to drag race, I want a cruiser for higher speeds, especially on the highway. Whats the best size rear end and gears for this??
thanks |

I would get something close to a 3.73. That is what your talking about, right?

dont need anything bigger than the 8 inch. it will hold fine. but for cruising and not racing go with higher gears, not 3.73s. stick with the stock gears, unless you intend to race some. then u could step up a little into the 3's

and remember, the "higher" the gear, the lower the number ratio
its kinda weird.

Most stck rears were 2.75s, but that was with a 3 spd auto. Since you'll have overdrive 3.18s wouldn't be bad, and 3.73s wouldn't be too terrible.

With a T-5 the stock Mustang ran a 3.55 I think and most people go with a 3.73. I think I am going to go with a 3.89 with mine.
