That, and millions in corporate sponsors. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Geico, and the hundreds of other major sponsors, could all combine to keep Nascar alive and healthy. It is this nations #1 most watched sporting event, and the most profitable as well. It'll be fine. And so too will the big 3... as long as they discontinue models like the Sebring.

A domestic car should be CHEAPER for me to purchase, just as it's cheaper for me to buy local wine instead of the French or Australian stuff, even though I'm getting the same or better quality.

For what it's worth, there's not a single new car, domestic or foreign, that I would consider purchasing at the moment. They're all too fat, too bloated, too over-optioned, and the few cars that are under $15k all have the wrong set of wheels powered.
Single best point made in this thread to date. If two identical products are manufactured, one in the U.S., the other overseas, the cost to purchase the domestic product should be significantly below that of the imported product.

Which leads me to a point I've made time and time again about economics; it is not economically viable that our country continue to import more goods than we export. That's just bad for us here at home, no other way to put it. Yes, we don't have cocoa trees here, for example, and have a need for said import; but in return we need to export a cost-similar product, to turn a steady one-for-one ratio. Otherwise all these stimulus packages every state has been offered are not going to amount a massive economic comeback any time soon.

you are correct and have made many valid points. Howeve, in a business such as manufacturing, you cant see it this way. Becausse o the enviromentail laws, minimum wage, and other national geographica laws, it is IMPOSSIBLE for the companies to produce at a cheaper price, even if they DONT have to import the products.
