2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT

SO one of my friends just graduated college (the same one I'm in for Avionics) last week and he went out and finally got himself a nice car. He's been driving a RAGGED out Chevy Cavalier that's been wrecked like 2 or 3 times now. It was a nasty car and now he finally got himself a nice car. I'm proud of him, but wish he woulda waited because he could've gotten a GT which he had considered. There's a red one in town for $9,500. It's a new edge too...

Regardless though, this car is pretty damn quick. I was surprised. It has the 3.8L V6 and has 263 hp and 260 ftlb torque. It has a bit of giddy up and the manu-matic shifting is pretty precise when he takes control of it.

He kept bugging me for a race though. I won't discuss what happened there.

It was marked at $16,500. He talked em down to $12,900. It has 23,000 miles. It's a saolid car and runs amazingly well.

No I made him look like he was standing still when I hit it...

I guess I'll go ahead and say it. On a dead highway, I call him and say "Fine, get to 60mph and you go. I'll go after you floor it."

He gets there and immediatly takes off and puts a good 2-3 cars, I downshift to 3rd and am slowly catching up. By the time I hit 110, I left him and put about 3 cars on him quick.

I know. That's what me and my other friend (who once had a Mach) said...

Finding a Mach haround here for $12,900 is kinda hard though. If it's that low, it's normally riddled with miles. For some reason cars hold value very well down here which I'm assuming because we don't have any snow, acid rain, or bad pollution problems.

Yeah. 3500 pounds, but it definatly can throw you in the seat.

I think it's a great in between car. Remember he's coming from a Cavalier. So it's pretty damn quick for him.

Yeah, but honestly I think he'd kill himself in a Mach. He wouldn;t know how to control it AT ALL. going from a ragged out Cavalier that can barely do the speed limit to a Mach 1 that can break most speed limits in < 5 seconds is quite a transition.

My mother has a 03 Eclipse GTS and that thing is pretty fast.
It only has about 210hp, but its still faster than most cars out on the road

Yeah. I got to drive a few V6's before getting the GT. I drove a Monte Carlo SS for quite awhile, so at least I had a little bit under my belt...

First night I got my car though I was leaving a parking lot and I floored it half way through the turn thinking I could just do like I did in the Monte. WRONG! I alomst lost control that night and almost ended up in a ditch. Rear end swung hard to the right (it was a right turn) and I basically did a 180.

If it says "Eclipse" then next two words should be "Turbo" and "AWD".

That being said, I hope your friend likes it. I've seen at least one supercharger kit for that V6 if it ever gets to be too slow for him.

Oh man he loves it. After we did our thing he asked what can I do to make it faster than your car

I can help him out, but he needs to figure out how to on his own kinda thing ya know? Let him learn about cars.
