I was driving out to my dads house, Usually a 2.5 hour drive, today was more like 4 hours due to weather, and my Pug started having seizures, first time I have ever seen this from him, took me over an hour to get him to the nearest emergency vet, he had over 10 seizures and the vet said he was epileptic. I have to pick him up in the morning and i really hope he is going to be ok .. The vet said that my dog will be on meds for the rest of his life, and tonight its gonna be over 700 dollars .

I broke down and started bawling in the waiting room, poor little guy

Picked him up from the Emergency Vet today, he is on meds twice a day for the rest of his life, If he is seizure free today I take him back to the vet to get his IV removed.

he is 3 , adopted him from the Humane society, This may have been one of the reasons his previous owners dumped him.

Could be. I don't want this to sound cruel, but $700+ to spend on a dog is a lot of money. Many people wouldn't shell out that kind of cash. Honestly, I don't think I would. I'm glad your little buddy is okay.

We had a shelty that had the same thing. Once they get the meds right he will be fine. Our Shelty lived a long life. Pet insurance, it's a wonderful thing. Let me know and I will send you a link.

My cousin had a pug it died about a month ago. It was 17 years old it had a seizure that lasted 20 mins. They knew it wasn’t good because after it he just laid there. They took him to the vet and they learned that he was blind but they didnt know because he knew the house so well he would just walk around. He also had bad arthritis so when they took him outside they would have to carry him down the stairs. It had brain damage so they ended up putting him to sleep.

With small dogs, (learned this with my sisters pomeranian) there is a tube of some gel shit that they need to lick/eat to prevent this kinda shit. I'm not sure what it is and I'm not sure if we still have it, but when her dog was a puppy he had seizures and we'd give him that shit and it'd pretty much stop as soon as he could lick a little bit of it.

Hope he's alright.

Ohh I have spent upwards of 5 grand on my Boston Terrier (hes 5) who has severe allergies.. My dogs are pretty much my children so I treat them accordingly, but yeah it is a lot of money especially right before Christmas, but I am thankful that he is doing well at the moment, snoring away right now.

i could not tell you off the top of my head, but we did have to med her up every day, a little advice just incase you dont know, when he/she goes into seizures dont mess with him/her, just let it run its course.

ill get back to you on the meds and what not

Right now he is on some strong meds, but they are really bad for his liver, so Monday I am going to my normal vet to discuss some alternative meds.

As for Buggy (the pug) He doesn't mind the snow, In my dads back yard he walked thru it like it wasn't there. My boston terrier on the other hand hated it.
