My woes

Ughhhhhh.... I can't stand it any longer...

My throwout bearing sings the sweet song of I hate you and happens at the very worst of times.... It's so embarassing.

I wish I had money to throw at this right now. I'd order it now and have it here before new years and drop it in probably on New Years, but no. I have to wait and see how much I can accumulate on Christmas day, make sure I have enough for tuition and shit, THEN buy it and THEN find the time to put it in...

My TOB has gotten so bad that it happens about every 10 pushes of the clutch and I can now feel it in my shifter...

I feel your pain. I just had my clutch and TOB replaced and the damned thing still makes noise. Don't want to deal with it anymore.

Meh, unless I get a daily driver and it's a Civic, I'll probably never get an auto again for a long time.

I just enjoy being in total control of the car. I dont like how my buddy's Z28 auto downshifts and it spins. I can downshift mine an leave him because he's spinning because the Z28 wants to put him at like 4500 rpms. It basically be like me dumping it at 4500.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Spray some white lithium grease on the TOB very carefully. It will quiet it down for a while. If you get a firewall adjuster and keep the clutch adjusted properly you won't have the problem again

I put white lithium grease on the face of TOB like I'm supposed to when I did the clutch.

I think that that is the source of all my problems. See, if I rest the TOB against the diaphram fingers, my clutch doesnt engage properly and doesn;t have the right throw in the pedal like it's supposed to. (light up top and give way about midway). So I tighten it, which gives it the right throw. What does that do? Cause the TOB to spin constantly thus wearing it out quicker. If I loosen it it litterally no clutch at all up top and nothing but complete stiffness ness at the bottom, which I KNOW is not right. There just was NEVER an in between with this Spec Stage 1.

It's bullshit.

I've tried pretty much everything. When I get this new clutch, I'm putting the entire stock system back on there. The clutch I'm getting fits OEM standards and is covered under warrenty.

I see, another shitty Spec clutch story. Do you use the Spec TOB? They are hit or miss at best. I've had good luck with the Ford clutches and TOB's myself.

I had the Spec TOB go out on me. I replaced it with the Ford OEM TOB. Much better in my opinion and I think it's a good quality part, but I think the aftermarket adjusting system wore it out because of the clutches no-in-between positioning.

Like I said, I'm getting a RAM clutch, which I have NEVER heard anything bad about and it's a OEM replacement. It's all I want. I don't really go to the track (only been once) and I never dump my clutch so I see it fit for my application.

The Ram is good . They match the OEM stuff pretty closely. It should be a good set-up for you.

lol 2-1 downshift ftl. I can't do it. 1st gear lockout.

I love to downshift from 4th at 2000 (45mph) into second. It's a nice throw-you-in-your-seat grab.

I'm hoping so. Stock cable, stock quadrant, RAM OEM clutch.

Are RAM TOB's good/reliable? I really don't want to HAVE to spend the money on a Ford OEM TOB if it's not needed.

The 2-1 down shift takes your stomach out. I love it. the 4-2 down shift is also fun. at about 60mph

zinc, i'm really sorry to hear all this man. you've been battling with this shit for almost a year.

i would throw everything that isn't stock about your clutch in the garbage. cable, firewall adjuster, quadrant, EVERYTHING!

then get yourself a good clutch kit with a FORD TOB and PILOT bearing and be happy. i've had good luck with my fidanza after all this time, no noise at all. the only time it ever chatters is when its quite hot after getting on it and shifting hard a few times. otherwise its smooth, less pedal effort than stock, and it grabs hard. you deserve to have this shit figured out its been bothering you for way too long.

Thanks man. I know. This clutch has been giving me hell since day fucking one and hopefully I can get enough tomorrow afternoon to finally buy a nice clutch and call it over with. I ACTUALLY will sell the Steeda adjustment kit on here or on another forums or possibly even ebay.

I just hope the RAM won't slip at all when I romp on it. It's not liek my car is heavily modded or anything. Just exhaust and the nice upkeep.

i'm sure the new one will hold up. i think its your aftermarket adjusters and stuff that messed up this tob, i would definitely sell that crap. i hope it works this time though, pulling the tranny is a bitch.
