PIAA Fog Light Wiring...

Well i got PIAAs on my truck. They are all wired up but for the switch... Everything is wired up as it should, but there are three wires coming out of the connector to go to a switch... I have the Switched power that is before teh connector hooked in at the fuse box for the stereo is so that the lights cannot go on unless the Keys are in the truck and its running or on accessory mode...

Any ideas on the three wires going to the swtich, from what i would think, one would be a ground for light in a switch if you were using one... but im just using a normal toggle...

I got on thing to try first. Maybe i use the 12V power from the radio and then hook that up to the "hot wire" and that gives power to the relay... Ill go try that...

One of them to the toggle is ground right? Green or copper? Its been so long since I wired my lights. Is the toggle "lighted"?

no i dont have the toggle it came with... so im using a non lighted toggle, air craft style switch.

And i have Black, a Red, and a White coming out of this connector to wire to the switch... The Black and Red go back to the relay, and the White connects up with the Switched 12V Power source, when you match up the connectors.

You know what matt... I have an inline fuse on mine. Ive never had a major problem. But mine go right to my battery. I still have 3 wires into my switch. I just took a look. I replaced all the "colored" wires with all red ones because thats what I had in the garage at the time. That may cause a problem someday. I guess If I have a problem, I'll just have to follow each wire back to where it gos'. Make sure you post what you end up doing because now Im curious about it.

I have mine wired into my headlight switch, for automatic headlights. I also have a manual switch for them. so I beleive that it's what they're for. I didn't do the wiring, electrical and me don't get along.

I dont want these to come on with the head lihgts.... I want to have a seperate switch for them... BUt will mainly be used with the head lights. but there are some places that the truck will go (mudding) that needs forward light, but the tail lights would be a give away that i am mudding... Its illegal where we go sometimes (1000 dollar fine) for a parking lot that has a ditch in it that is not maintained by the city....

But I will get this truck good tommorow...

I cannot figure out what wires go to the switch... i have three and two go to a relay and one goes to a 12V power source..

i see what your asking now, i missed the part about not having the original switch.

Im gonna say the black wire is the ground for the light in the switch like you said, so you need to go from one side of the switch to a 12v acc wire, and the other side of the switch will go to the red wire coming off the connector
