More Drama at J's
I didnt want to post this because I feel like, well, Im posting too much stuff lately. But this is improtant because alot of you may read this and may have stories or comments. This is what makes MM so great to me.
We got up this morning and headed to the market at 4:00 am or so. Wifey was really tired so she slept in until the last minute before we had to go. I made her a cup of coffee to go but I put too much sugar in so she didnt drink it. we got to the market and for the first 30 minutes she was fine. We hustled along and got everything set up real quick. At that point she walked with a buddy of ours to go get the coffee she needed. After about 5 sips, she said she was nausea's. I didnt think much of it except maybe she just needs to barf or something. Big deal right? So she walked over toward the garbage can and bent down but didnt do anything. I noticed she was real "fidgity" in her feet and started looking "odd". Then the worse thing ever happened. She started to walk across the street to the truck. Before she could climb in the door, she fell face first into the pavement. She totally went out. I ran over to her yelling at our friend to call 911. When I got to her, I put my hand between her face and the ground and calmy started talking to her to try and get a response. Her eyes were open but the lights were out. Hers eyes were dialated completley in a scarry fucking way. I just kept saying "can you hear me babe? help is coming". I situated my hand so that my fingers were on the side of her neck feeling her pulse. Her pulse was slow and very weak but her breathing was good. One of the blessings here is that our "buddy" is also a Doctor. So he was on the phone talking to 911 telling them exactly what just happened. I just kept telling her "if you can hear me, help is coming and everythings gonna be ok". I took my free hand and grabbed her hand to let her know I was right there. After about 5 minutes she "blinked" and started coming too. She tried to sit up and I told her "no" just lay still till the EMS get here. Then the EMS got there and she was like half awake but still in this weird state. They helped her up into the back of the EMS truck. They checked her blood sugar level and it was 127. Her heart and vitals were all good. The EMS guy was really awesome. He had me tell him everything that happened this morning up until then. He thinks that her blood sugar level was too low and she started sipping coffee too "late" and the process of passing out already started. But thats why her levels were ok by the time she was "poked". This scared the hell out of me in a bad way. Ive never seen wifey like this. She looked like she had just died. My automatic "mode" kicked in and kept me calm while it all went down but afterwards I broke down. After it all, she says she doesnt remember anything. She remembers feeling very sick and very uncomfortable like she couldnt stand still. Any comments or anyone ever have something like this happen??? |

Shit
Yeah I've had bouts with low blood sugar. When I was younger...I don't get that way anymore. Gotta eat - even if it's just a glass of OJ. Have her keep some type of protein bar or something in her purse...hi-cal snack...anything. If you go to the Health Food store, they have something called Tiger Milk bars that are awesome. There are also low blood sugar tablets that you can eat for a quick fix until you can get food.I've also had a couple of spells where I passed out - they did many tests and determined it just to be stress related. Just have her rest and dote on her for a couple days....keep an eye on it and if it continues, follow up with a physician. Glad she's doing better though

Being that diabete's runs in her family,,, she's probably getting there. But her blood sugar was 127 when the EMS checked so that level is in a good range. I dont think it was a seizure thank god because she had none of the classic signs of that. The nausea before had tells me it was probably blood sugar. IDK.
But you've had this happen Mama? Its funny, on the way home she told me something. About a month ago I bought some Nutra Grain bars that were on sale. She said when she ate those first thing in the morning, it made her morning better somehow. She says she only feels this way in the mornings. Can blood sugar fall all night and thats why it just happens in the morning? And no, no chance of preggo...tubal ligation FTW. |

Yep - I have to eat as soon as I get to work. My symptoms start with me feeling tired. Then I get pissed for no apparent reason - by that point, it's too late. Once I finally get to food at that point, I can't get enough of it.
Small meals at least 6 times a day are what she needs. Have her eat a little breakfast bar before she leaves in the morning then have some trail mix or something as a mid morning snack and mid afternoon snack. Fresh fruit is a good option too. Continue with your 3 large meals during the day as well. Exercise is also important. Wii Fit to the rescue! They can test for diabetes. And it sounds like she could control it with diet at this point. This would be the time to do it and get it under control if that's what it is.

most likely yes. when people say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" it's no shit. that is the primary fuel you use to start the day. some people don't do well running on an empty tank. you should see to it she eats every morning even if it's a snack bar and a cup of juice
