My plan...

So, I've made a choice that I belive will be a good one. I plan on completing College in 2012 with a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems. At this time, the new Mustang (2010 Model) will be two years old, and I will be buying one.

I love the new look of this car, and starting now I'm going to save up money for this car. I plan on getting the GT model, for that 315 rwhp.

Now... here is the hard part.... I am going to stop modifying my current Mustang so I can save up a large down payment for this new one.

Just wanted to make this public, for some backup on me doing this. Will be the first major car I purchase, save for, and I plan on it bein brand new (no one in my family has ever owned a new car).

Failure to plan is a plan to fail. Sounds like a great plan though. If you walk in with a nice chunk of cash, they will cut you a hell of a deal. Stick with it and you will be more than happy when your done.

Massive props for listing the goal of finishing school first and taking the time to tell us what your major is. If you accomplish this first goal, the rest will work itself out real nice.

Hey! I'll bet you $5 that you DO finish school but you change your mind about the Mustang by the time 2012 gets here. Either way 232's first line is GOLDEN!

It's gonna be tough, since The payments will be around $300/month, plus more for my trade in (which at that time will be about 1 1/2 years from payoff).

However, I plan to have around $3,500 to plop down on the table... hope that will get me a good deal. I might insted use that to payoff the current stang, keep it, and use it as a DD

lol, no problem. And its good to see we have very similar goals. I dont care what it takes, I WILL have a nice, shiney, beast sounding, tire burning Mustang Cobra when I finish college.

Amen brother. It will be hard, I mean... $300-$400/month is alot to pay right out of college... plus student loans will be knocking soon. Got to think about Insurance as well. If im driving around a 2010 in 2012, its still gonna be really expensive to fix if it gets wreaked...

Man, shuttered at the though of wreaking such a nice work of art...

Just hope that the '10 is still a desirable car in a few years; who knows what will happen with the '11s or '12s. I mean, look at an '03 GT vs an '05, lol.

Hmm, I know what ya mean... however I do not see the comparison of the '03 and '05. Two different models? Forgive me if im missing something obvious.

Oh, I just meant that 2 years difference can make for 2 very different cars. I mean, stock for stock, the 3v is a much better motor than the PI 2v, and the rear suspension was redesigned for the better.

I'm doing the exact same thing as you. Although my plan is to set aside $500 or 66% of my monthly income at the end of the month for the next 2 years, starting in march. hopefully i'm out in 2011 like I have planned.
