need some stereo help

I'm trying to help my brother install a stereo in his 98 taurus and aside from finding out that the sony stereo don't light up or nothing we tried to install a kenwood kdc mp5028 and discovered we didn't have a wiring harness. Does anyone know where I can find one fast ? I leave back to the stumps in a week so time is of the essence. I tried google but only found one source, and I'm limited to internet on my phone.

walmart should have some pretty common wiring kits on the shelf

if you're asking about the harness that goes to the back of the Kenwood..... check with a "local" type shop that sells Kenwood. any decent installer will have a huge box of harnesses that they keep around just in case someone who needs one comes looking for one. most guys will give it to you for 10 or 20 bucks.

when i was an installer, i had a gigantic box full of harnesses that i would give away for nothing to people who came in with the "right attitude"

use the sony one and cut the wires....crip together.....takes 10 mins and it free

I prefer not to butcher the factory harness.

you don't the factory harness plugs into a manufacture specific harness...in his case the Sony that doesn't work...cut that one and splice or soider to the kenwood harness that came with it....if done right its just as good as a harness....

Thats how i did my radio. Just cut the original wires before the plug that connects to the headunit. Then soldered on the wires for the new headunit to the stock wires. Put tape around each wire to prevent shorts and your done

i would have used shrik wrap....but thats the best way to "do it your self"
