if you plan to ever drive it in the rain, get the nitto's. the BFG's are suicidal in the rain. the old tread pattern BFG's are ok in the rain, but the ones you are looking at are the new pattern. if you may drive it in the rain, nitto's PERIOD. the new style M/T's arent bad in the rain, but still have to use alot of caution. you will only get about 2000-3000 miles out of a set of the M/T's though. same with the BFG's.

the 555R2's are techinically a roadrace tire, they have the same tread pattern, and compund as the drag radials, but they have a much stiffer sidewall and can be run in the front of the car aswell. the stiffer sidewall makes a big difference in traction. when i bought my 04 cobra it had the FGT wheels with 555R2's all the way around and at near stock power i could spin them no problem. i didnt like the wheels so i traded with a friend for 18" FR500's and they had the regular 555R drag radials on the back in the same size (305-35/18) that i had the 555R2's in, and they provided MUCH better traction. the R2's are some doo doo butter.

Well damn, i'm glad i ordered them today. I'll call in and cancel my order then order some 555r's. Those lying fuckers at discounttiredirect! They told me that the 555r2's were the same but lasted an extra 1000 miles or so.

that's why you should have read up and not trusted the moron sales guy that doesn't have time to read and memorize all the tires he's selling. the 555rII's are for the road course. glad it's not to late for you to change your order. what kind of tire did you get as your track tire for the 17's.

I just got some 275/40/17 nitto 555r's for the drag rims.
I dont have a built rear end yet and i wont have enough money for a built rear for awhile, so i'm gonna play the safe card until then.

That makes no sence. 17s have less give than 15s, and are prolly more likely to break somthing.

completely agree... a 15 inch tire has a taller sidewall which allows for the tire to take the shock rather than the rear end... reason why my car after 200 passes (100 nitrous passes) has made it so long stock rear end... the tires them selfs wrinkle, where a DR its hard to do that and so the rear end takes the shock... more likely to break somehting on a DR than a full blown slick.
