As I am sitting here right now doin my thing and reading all the threads and having the time of my life because I am soon taking a long awaited trip home in 17 days, there is a soldier beside me on the phone who is one of the newer guys sent to replace us. He is talking so loud that I can't help but hear his conversation even though I am trying not to. I can hear the pain in his voice as he is talking to his g/f or wife and asking why she needed to go see some guy at 3am and how he is supposed to trust her. This kid just got here less then a month ago and at the least still has 11 more to go and he is already having problems. I can't shake the feeling of dispair and pity for him. It breaks my heart that people who give everything for everyone have to go through these things. Its a part of life don't get me wrong but the shit that we have to deal with here already, then shit like this on top of it all. This is bothering me so bad I am about to have to leave. I should have brought my ipod or something because this is almost intolerable. The nerve that people have to stab someone in the back when they are half a world away. Moral fiber is deffinately tested upon combat deployment that is for certain. Thanks for reading my rant.

Very very true and sad, military relationships are the hardest to get through. Not only is it long distance, it is for a long amount of time, and in a stressful environment. No guarantee anyone is coming home again puts strain there. They do have one distinct advantage over normal relationships though, the ones truly meant to last, will. 2 people truly in love should never cheat on each other, we may find someone we are capable of loving, and live a happy life with them, but we would never know if they could stand the test that the military relationships go through. It's tough to go through, the pain and loss, but we have to hope it's all for something worthwhile.

+1, that is why i'm trying not to settle down yet. I've met a few girls that i think I could settle down with and stay with them forever...Then i think to myself "i am deploying in a few years, how is that going to work?"

It's a sad sad thing to see somebody in pain, especially your fellow soldiers. I hope his situation turns for the better.

it sucks to hear about something like that. I can't imagine the emotions he must be feeling knowing there is nothing he can do overseas. However, a girl like that doesn't deserve his time. Hopefully when he gets home he will find one better who will stick with him through thick and thin. Either way thank both of you for your services and get home safely!!

I hate hearing stuff like that. It really takes a certain type of girl in order to deal with a military relationship. Tim was in the Navy for 8 years and we went through two deployments together. It was tough being that far away and not really knowing where he is going until after the fact but we made it through and neither of us cheated and I always tell people that if you can make it through deployments than you can make it through anything. Most women know what dating a guy in the military means...if they can't handle it than they shouldn't have started dating that guy in the first place. It would prevent a lot of "Dear John" letters. I hope the guy makes it through this alright.
