I need opinions on this car
Hey everybody,
All the information I have is this ad. I'm tempted to check it out. I've e-mailed the guy and asked him a few questions. It's about 3 hours from where I am so it's not a quick or easy trip to go pick it up. If I get it I'll be selling my car as well and take off the red/white/blue flag stuff (I'm patriotic, just not for me on my car) that comes on this new edge. Let me know what you think. It's for sale for $10k. Here's the ad below: Car is very clean and has only 40k miles and over 10,000 dollars in extra engine mods.Last dynoed at 380. 10 horsepower less than a cobra and 10k dollars less in money, so you think about that. A whole lot cheaper on your insurance also. Below is a list of all of the mods done to the car Engine -Vortech V2 SQ (quiet) supercharger system -42# Ford Racing Injectors -SVT Focus Fuel Pump -SCT X Cal 2 Computer Tuner with custom tunes -75 mm throttle body -dragon intake plenum -boost pipe on s/c intake K&N air filter Exhaust -Mac long tubes (newest model) -Mac H-pipe (offroad) -Magnaflow magnapack catback exhaust Suspension/wheels -Maximum motorsports full coilover kit with caster/chamber plates (Lowered 3") -18" Bullit replicas (black)...9" front, 10" dished in rear -Nitto 315 drag radials in rear -All wheels and tires on 5k miles on them Other -MGW short shifter (orange handle) -Speed of sound gauge pillar with raptor shift light, boost gauge, air/fuel (currently not installed but can be quick and easy) -Red/white/blue pony on grill, and red/white/blue rear bumper lettering -grill delete kit -Mach 1 chin spoiler -Brand new Mustang Headlights with Super White Headlight Bulbs 4.6 liter V8 engine Manual transmission Tru-blue metallic exterior Power windows, mirrors, & driver seat Remote keyless entry Antilock breaks Traction control Driver and passenger airbags Fog lights ![]() ![]() ![]()

Any other opinions on whether it's a good move or should I stick with what I have? Also, are there any risks I should be aware of with the engine mods; Vortech V2 SQ, etc.?

Hmm. Seems like one steal of a deal to me. Compression tests are a pretty good testiment to how good of shape an engine is in; maybe you can get the owner to agree to a test or two and if it all checks out you'll take the car off his hands?

Sounds like a good idea. I really would like to have it. He hasn't gotten back to me yet but I just e-mailed him some questions today so I'll see what his answers are and give it some more thought.

I have a soft spot for a True Blue new edge lol Definetly look it over top to bottom..ask why he's selling it....listen real closely to everything..watch for blue/black smoke....have him install a/f gauge so you can see if the tune its running is lean or rich BEFORE you buy it...if your satisfied go for it!

I'm not sure about the lowering, but the stance looks great from the pictures, so it's cool. Yeah, I'll definitely be getting rid of that. I like my cars extremely clean with one color and black. I'm even thinking about switching the rims eventually to some silver saleens.

yeah, as stated above do see if he is willing to do a comp. check and possibly a leak down test, also ask him if he has any of the reciepts for the parts (the charger for instance), and what shop installed them. looks good though

its $10K less than a cobra becuase you get $10K less car. it has a weak motor, weak tranny, crappier interior, and well.... its not a cobra.
that car vs. a stock cobra would probably be a close race, but if the cobra has just intake and exhaust, its walking it out. and god forbid it be pullied. buy a cobra, your not going to be happy until you do.

I wouldn't go as far to say you won't be happy till you have a cobra, But no this car doesn't really compare to cobra. But you don't need a cobra either sleepers are more fun!!!

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still waiting to hear from the guy. Until then I'm going to assume it's been sold so I don't get my hopes up.
You probably know this, but those words about the Cobra were not mine. They were part of the ad. I know for sure it's not going to beat a Termi with any mods. I'm not a racer anyway. I just like to have plenty of power for fun. I've debated on whether or not to get a Termi and I just can't do it right now. All other Cobra's I'd want to s/c and that would cost me quite a bit. This looks like a pretty beast GT anyhow.

I just got a response from the seller and he still has it and sent me some pics and answers to my questions I asked before I made this thread. I've got some serious thinking to do.
Here are the photos and to follow is the q and a section. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1) How was the car driven; weekend cruiser, drag raced, or daily driver? Driven hard or lighly? Adult or youth driver? How many owners? Daily driver, mostly to work and thats about 20 miles a day. Driven lightly because wanted it to last. Adult driver by both owners because only one owner before I got it and they were older about 40 years old. 2) How well maintained is the car? Car is very well maintained. Change oil every 3,000 miles and check air filter everytime I change oil. Oil is regular conventional oil also. 3) Any leaks or problems I should know about? The only problem is the keyless entry. Works some of the time. I think the solinoid for the locks just need to be replaced and is not expensive at all, I just use the keys so didnt need to get it fixed. 4) Was the S/C installed professionally and tuned on a dyno or is it running a canned tune with the SCT? Both, professionally installed and tuned on a dyno but has a SCT also. I got the SCT professionally installed and tuned on the dyno. Has 380 rwhp last time I had it on the dyno. 5) Are those Cobra front calipers or are they just painted red? They were installed by the previous owner, but if im not mistaken they are performance breaks, I think brembo so they are expensive. 6) If you don't mind, what is your reason for selling it? I am looking to get something better on gas, say about 30 miles a gallon. Dont take it the wrong way, I love the car and regret thinking about selling it everyday, its just financially need something better on gas because gets about 22 highway miles and if you dont drive it hard, you can maybe push out an extra 1 or 2 miles per gallon. Like I said earlier drove 10 miles to work both ways so had alot of stop and driving and you know that kills gas mileage so thats why I got 22. 7) Is that gray cloth or leather? It has gray cloth but very clean with no rips or anything plus im a non-smoker so smells and is very clean. 8) Is there any way to get more photos of the car; underhood and interior? I have some more pics and included with emial. 9) Is the rear end stock with the stock gear ratio? Rear end is a stock 8inch, but gear ratio is 4 10, so has lots of power. 10) Does the transmission shift smoothly? Transmission shifts really smoothly and is in great shape.
