So what are all your opinions on the fact that Obama will be shutting down Guantanamo Bay in a year? I think its BS. but thats just me.

ok back on topic. why would he want to close guantanamo bay and bring all those people onto american soil? what is the point in doing this?

he is trying to "help" the taxpayers out. one because we are paying double the amount to have them stay there then to have them on our soil. I also think that it is BS.

exactly, while bank ceo's are paying 1.5 million to renovate their office's instead of getting rid of them we are releasing prisoners that commited crimes against our nation.

ahh the bandwagon lol. does anyone know how many people at gitmo have never been charged with a crime yet? does anyone know how many have never even been proven to be a threat? well let me tell ya. a fuck load. he made the order to shut it down within a year. was that a bit pre-mature? probably but ya know what it needed to be done.

Hmmm I thought the idea behind this is to not make the USA look like Hippocrates; Saying that they follow the Geneva convention in the US except in Guantanamo Bay and that they don't torture criminals anywhere in the US except in Guantanamo Bay.... I say just execute those prisoners there and close down Guantanamo Bay.

Who knows, maybe those other countries won't have such animosity towards the US if we weren't making ourselves look like hypocrites.

It was my understanding that there isnt that many "proven" terrorists there anyway. I thought they werre just going to move them to Levenworth or other high security federal prisons. To me, whats the difference if they are held there or in guantanamo?

When all else is equal, I support anything that saves the country money. The high security prisons here will be able to hold them just fine in my opinion. Why pay the enormous price for some prison away from the country. If there is a good reason, then great, lets hear it. Its not to my understanding that they will just let proven terrorists free.

I could be misinformed though, I havent really been following since I have bigger prioritys in my real world.

But but Ja! you can't honestly think that we have to hold them here in our own land! they're criminals! You would think they're different from the thousands of other criminals that lie, steal, and kill that are overcrowding our prisons but no! these are different!
