and for the v6 swap to v8 thats always the option but how many people will do that? its alot of work and not many people cant do it themselves so after its done by a shop you might as well have just bought a gt or ss.

LSX motors get pretty good MPG, my 00 WS6 A4 with a few mods gets almost 20 MPG, M6 guys get even better MPG. An LS3 M6 will get better then 14 MPG. |

this is very true with an M6 ls1 you can get almost 30 mpg highway driving easy at 75. i got around 25 mpg going 85-100 and 19-22 going 100+ most of the way. ( yeah it was dumb to drive at 100+ for around 300 miles, but its montana theres not that many poe poe around)

the point is whenever they actually come out; or even a year after they are going to be about 10k more so comparing them isnt fair; even though it is kind of fair seeing as how it seems theyll be within 1/2 second of each other on the quarter |

and it will be more like a second difference. the mustang (minus specialties like cobra, mach 1 and saleen) are just now catching up with the 02 camaro.

still not getting the point; the cost of the mustang 4 years ago only matters to car historians or w/e
if you are out to buy either a mustang or camero what matters is how much they cost NOW. even if you wait 2 years for the camero to come down there prob. still is going to be a 7-10k difference b/w a gt and SS hence the comparison is truly apples-oranges. |

more like 3550lbs
my gt had a window sticker just over the 28845 you listed above. with the uglier 2010 body style it will probably be even less than what i paid |

Stock for Stock the Camaro should beat a GT without problems........as far as modding goes......you can make any car go fast......with the right parts......I like the look of the mustang better.....but havn't sat in a new Carmaro so I can't compare right now.....look at the old 5.0's.....they dominated the camaro community.....and pretty much anything else.......the ford small block is stout for its size.....and produces great torque.....ford came with alot of wide band gear sets that allowed the small block to excelerate fairly easy......PTW though plays a huge difference.......get the weight down and those cars will fly......there are vast parts are for the new edge right now which you can bolt on insane power and reduce weight fairly easy.....the camaro will have plenty of engine attire to chose from....but the rest of the car will take some time to grow with the aftermarket........it will be thorn in our sides again.....but hey....we will always prevail....just out number them...lol

Like the SRT8 the camaro born with 425hp N/A has no where to go in my opinion! When your producing that much power already its very hard and EXPENSIVE to get more! Heads and cams will be high as hell! I considered the new Camaro before I bought my 08 GT and basically decided I was sticking to ford! I sort of like the fact that Mustangs dont come with a lot of power factory because every JOE around would have what we got. I like the upgrading and being above average! Ive added bout 1200.00$ to my 08 and it goes 13.2 on street tires with 3.55s and looks better than the 2010 Camaro! BTW I have a friend with a 300c SRT8 that runs 12.89@111 in Bristol with headers and C&L CAI and DRs

No offense but the camaro is no where in HELL near maxed out on power, and you seem to have forgotten the camaro has a 6.2, not a smallish 4.6. They can and will produce over 500rwhp N/A after installing full bolt ons, heads, cams, and longtubes.

^^^ i have to agree! the camaro will produce massive hp. it has more cubes and you have to consider just with a tune it will pick up about 20 rwhp. factory always restricts them bad so headers and tune and you better watch out.

The muscle wars are always going to happen. Ford's going to win, then chevy will come out with something to be better, then ford will come out with something else to be better. It's a reciprocating cycle. Take it as it is, the camaro will be a beast with full bolt ons. Get that piggish 4k weight down a notch and then I want to see what they run.

I know this is a bit late, but based on the direction this thread was going earlier I thought this was a bit relevant.
