i think i broke a rib or two

I spent all day yesterday riding atv's in the mountains in Tennessee. If any of you know about riding in the mountains you know it is steep. Well I got about fifty yards up this steep ass hil when I hit a rut and my six hundred pound grizzly came rolling over on top of me. Now I can't bend over or twist or put very much pressure on anything with my right hand. It sucks. I'm in the car on the way back now and I'm miserable.

Ouch..... Yeah they could be broken. I've done that very same thing (only with a 400 kodiak). Is it fairly easy to breath? If it is, you most likely have bruised ribs. Either way, you should probably have it checked out.

Yeah I can breathe fine. I'm still undecided if I'm going to go to the doctor yet.

I haven't been on any atv since I careemed into a serious sized boulder at full steem about 3 1/2 years ago. I feel your pain. Friends dared me to jump a massive snow pack in my quad, and I thought it would be necessary to full throttle it to get the quad in the air. Little did I know that mound of snow was really one huge rock (about 4-5' in height) covered with a foot of fresh powder.

Needless to say the quad didn't fare too well. Neither did my knees nor back. Knees slammed into the handlebars hard, my body flew into a tree, which is how I sprained my back. All good memories though, only needed 7 stitches to close up my knee.

Quads and snow are fantastically fun. I'd do that over skiing any day.

So Weems how are grizzlies to ride? Never been on one.

depends on which one he has. My dad has the 600 cc Grizzly (old style) and man they have a lot of power. The new ones seem like they want to flip too easily with the IRS.

Ive got a Honda Foreman 450 ES and its really a fun atv.

Broken rib ain't anything to cry about. Broke a few in my time.

Not like the doctors can do much anyway. They'll just pump you full of pain killers that only slightly numb it. Enjoy the next 6-8 weeks

Last time I broke a rib, I also punctured my left lung. It was not cool, also bro if they were broken, unless you have an ridiculous pain tolerance like myself, you wouldn't be able to breathe.

I'm betting that they're just badly bruised.

The doctors can't do anything about broken ribs but bandage you up and maybe give you some low grade pain medication. It'd be a waste of money unless you are in enough pain to warrant some pain medication. Hope you feel better though. I broke a lot of bones racing motocross including three vertebra so I know a little bit about broken bones and pain.

If it was a broke rib, like drgn sad, you would know it. You wouldn't be able to breathe without doubling over in pain.

You're just sore. What happens in situations liek that alot of times is you muscles tense up to tightly in high stress situations like rolling an ATV and you won't feel any pain untill the adrenaline has worn off.

Alot of times your muscles flexing so strongly can cause damage and such wich would explain you being sore.

I have broken a rib before. it was in the tornado and YES you'd know if you broke one. I could not lay down or lean to my left for about a month. I had to sleep laying up and to the right a little and when I would take a deep breath my back would go into excrutiating pain. For some months afterwards, and still a little today, if I take a deep breath that rib will "pop" like you would pop your knuckle or something. It hurts a little, but I lived.
