It's really fun man. You only do your dive in 30ft or so of water. I think they do that so if you freak out you aren't far from the surface. It's pretty quick process. They basically make you feel comfortable breathing underwater. Have you done any diving at all? Or at least have you done the classwork tests? If you have done that, you will doing everything you learned hands on. I just read the river part. ICK! At least you can see where the good fishing spots will be or maybe see used guns and dead bodies hahahaha. Oh...one more thing, if it's your first open water dive, stay close. The river will take you away and scare the shit outta ya really fast. If somehow you get disoriented, stop what you are doing, save 02 and follow your bubbles to the surface.

This will be my first time ever diving. Ive snorkeled lol, but no diving. Heck, I even own 2 scuba tanks but I use them to fill paintball tanks.

Well there are 5 classes from 1-6 on sundays starting this sunday. Havent done the classroom stuff, its all together.

This sunday we are doing classroom stuff and then going to the pool for swimming assessment.

It's fun. I have well over 500 dives, my wife about 300. You'll know after 10 to 15 dives if it's for you. Just relax in the water, and don't worry about sharks. I have a max depth of 160, on open SCUBA and that was a little stupid, but then at the time we were diving three times a day evey other day. And night diving is the real bomb! Just learn your shit and do it as often as you can. W>P>

Haha, I seriously doubt there are any sharks here.
