Custom Engraving, Opinions?

What do you guys think about doing custom engraving with a laser on like shift knobs, valve covers, basically any kind of aluminum dress up parts? These would be great gifts from a spouse to another spouse or good friends too. I was just wondering what you guys would think about this idea..would you buy something like this or...?

I like it. sounds like a cool idea. you could put the name of your car on the shift knob or something personal on the valve covers.. sounds like a great idea honestly.

It's an awesome idea, but the question is, can you do it? And can you do it WELL enough to charge somebody for it?

Its not a question of the skills needed to do this because they are there. Its a question of rather people would actually go for this in order for it to be tried.

Do they have to be metal shift knobs?? I would like to have Ford Racing on a white shift ball.. Can you do that??

Ya, give the details of what all you could engrave and such. Designs you can do? Materials? Time frame? Cost?

Just trying to get the ideas flowing.

i think you scan an image and the computer does the engraving
