hmmm, I am gonna get flammed for this, but I would vote for the Camaro. The mustang just is sub par performance wise. The V6 mustang should be a minimum 260HP, not the pathetic 4.0 that they offer now. The GT should atleast be 360HP, not the 260WHP the current 4.6 puts out. The V6 Camaro puts out more ponies, and although its lighter and has more torque to use, people will not see that. Hell even the Cobalt SS puts out more HP at the wheels than the Stang. Ford has been behind for awhile now in terms of motor output (exception being the Cobra's) its time they stepped their game up. Both cars are pretty sick looking though!

The Mustang has alway lagged behind a bit in horsepower ratings. Even the fabled Shelby GT500 was getting whipped by 396 Camaros and Chevelles until Shelby came out with the GT500KR. There is more to popularity than just horsepower.

I think the new Camaro will sell well though. Camaro fans (and I'm one of them) haven't been able to buy a Camaro for a while.

WTF??? When you click the side by side, it compares the SS to the GT... Shouldnt the SS be put with the GT500? and have a bae V8 with the GT? Chevy guys never cease to amaze me.

There is no more Z28, the SS model is the base V8. Perhaps they should compare the Mustang GT to the Camaro v6 then? THey will be damn close performance wise. Preliminary test have shown the V6 camaro running 14 flat in the 1/4 and it starts at 22,000 and some change.

There will be an uplevel model V8 Camaro I am sure, but for now there is the v6 or the SS.....

They're comparing motor to motor basically. And isn't technically the GT500 Shelby's product? And even if it isn't you still wouldn't like the comparison of a supercharged Camaro to a GT500. They put bigger motors in their cars plain and simple. But when they start rubbing it in your face just ask them what company needed a buck from the government.

Your right, I was off sorry. Although the car hasnt been tested yet in its final version. Either way the point is still valid. Its still a better comparison between the V6 Camaro and the V8 Mustang than it is with the V8 Camaro and the V8 Mustang. Actually I suppose the Mustang is slotted in between the times of the Camaro motors.
I am still waiting for Ford to pull the trigger on a turbo V6 Mustang. Better gas miledge, more HP! FTW!

you know whats funny...motortrend has the new ss camaro running a 13.7@104...thats kinda funny...my bolt on gt that has about 12K in the entire car runs faster....with half the hp...funny how that works

EXACTLY^^^ just like the challenger...you may have 400+hp but when your a fatass and weigh in 1000lbs more it slows you down.

Thats what I hear too However that $22K V6 Slowmaro with 300 hp at the crank is going to sell...unless they are made like crap. I'm real anxious to see what 2011 Stang engine brings the competition!

I looked all over the sight, cant find an article on any magazine sight that has tested a SS yet. However the G8 GXP has been test, it weighs more than the camaro, has a similar motor, but slightly less HP, and ran a 13.1@109MPH.

The Mustang is not meant to be the king of the road. This shouldn't even be in discussion. This topic, (not this thread specifically) reminds me of Honda owners who think their car is the fastest thing out there. News flash, it isn't and neither is the Mustang.

Ford is smart. They use the Mustang to appeal to a broad market. The have the dirt cheap V6, or the GT for the poor mans race car. The 02 GT could not compare to the 02 Z28. But for those Ford enthusiast who wanted to "hang" with the Camaro, they made the Cobra. A more expensive car, but, if you wanted it, it was available. And then you had the Saleen, the Roush....so on and so forth. Ford made a car to suit whatever you wanted. That's why they have kept the Mustang on the road. Chevrolet, only gave you a few options, and if you couldn't afford their top dog, you had to get a V6 Camaro, or a Mustang GT.....clearly, people chose the GT.
