Not bad at all for just starting out...learn more about white balance, really could make those pictures crisp.

Well its a little more than just that....lets talk about your last picture as an example...notice how its really grayed out...well it is because of your white balance, and also your focal point....the camera is going to see a certain point to focus on and adjust to that...

Dude this stuff is really new to me also, i'm still learning...now i understand why they actually have degrees in this field!

right on, now to work on composition.

another note, when shooting on overcast days, don't expect anything awesome. they are just down right shitty days to shoot on.

Do you have any Ritz camera stores? They do classes all of the time. They are free if you buy a camera from them but I think you can pay to attend. I've got a Nikon D40X so welcome to the D40 club. Learn how to use the camera in a manual setting. The first things you should buy for your camera is a decent tripod and a flash diffuser (Gary Pong). It'll make a huge difference in your photos. A tip, especially with vehicles, is to shoot with horizontal light such as sun up or sun down. Also, a good tip is to always use your flash, even in the sunlight. If you're shooting in a manual setting you'll be able to adjust for it and it helps redistribute the light for a better picture.

flash diffuser huh ill look that up sense i have no clue for its purpose. thanks for the tips.

as for the overcast pics i kinda like them with the backdrop of the dead trees and grass. i also like where the sun was starting to poke thru the clouds.
