I HATE getting profiled.

So I went to the beach today with a buddy of mine. Living it up on our day off, having a couple brews enjoying the nice day and what scenery there was (pretty much all old people, wtf?!?) So I"m on my way from my buddy's house (he drove to the beach), and I turn on his main road to head to the interstate so I could get home, when a cop turns behind me (he was a good ways back). The speed limit was 45, I hit the cruise control to 47. The cop changed lanes from behind me to the left lane, gets up to my side, then procedes to back off a little. Next thing I know, I get blue lighted. I"m thinking to myself, "what the f*ck is this about?!?" So I pull over, cop comes to my window (which is rolled down by now because I know the routine).

"License, registration, and proof of insurance please" says the cop. So I hand it to him. He takes a look at it for a second...then asks me to roll my window up half way. I oblige. He then sticks a window tint checker on my window and tells me what the device is used for. When the number pops up he instructs me to tell him what it reads (keep in mind I bought my car from the dealership as it was). It read 13. He then tells me it's illegal to have anything under 20% in the state of florida and asks me to step out of my vehicle. I mentioned to him "I bought this vehcile from the dealership like this!" He then asks me if I knew that I'm still legally responsible even if bought likes this. I"m like, "no, because i didn't know dealerships can sell vehicles with illegal tint on them!" He still insisted I was legally responsible. Now I'm totally perplexed at why he would ask me to step out of my vehicle for window tint. So the officer then asks me if I have any guns, illegal drugs, or anything he should know about. I tell him "no". He then asks me to open my mouth, which I oblige to. I close my mouth when instructed to.

"I thought you had something in your mouth". I didn't have anything in my mouth. Then the cop asks me if I have anything illegal in my car. Of course I tell him "no". He then asks to search my vehicle. Without question I say "yes". First he asks me to pop my hatch. Before I do I wanted to let him know that it was probably locked (since my car locks itself after going a certain speed) and that if it was locked if I could go to my door to unlock it. He says "that's fine". It happened to be unlocked from sitting for some time. So it pops open without issue and the cop begins looking in my hatch. Wasn't much back there so he checks underneath where the spare tire is. He moved the cargo net (which I had no idea i had) and asked if I didn't like my cargo net. I said "no". He then told me he is going to search the rest of my vehicle. So I let him. After he found nothing (I didn't have anything illegal in vehicle) he said, "this is a nice car you have". I was thinking, "no shit, that's why I bought it," but instead said, "that's why I bought it". He then asked where I was coming from, where I was going to, and where I worked. So I answered all of his questions. He also asked me if I had been arrested, I stated yes for street racing. He asked me if I had received any tickets recently. I stated that my street racing was amended to careless driving. He asked if I payed the citation and I told him that I had and had elected the traffic school. So of course he drilled me on how many days I had and i told him 60 and that this happened february 10th.

So finally he said, "since you've been cooperative I am not going to issue a citation, but you need to have the window tint removed if you don't want to receive a citation for it. You also need to renew your registration since it expires on saturday (my birthday). You are free to go".

WTF!!! I was doing NOTHING wrong and got pulled over. Cops seriously need to go catch some real criminals, and not law biding citizens obeying ALL traffic laws.

I'm so pissed over this!!!!

And no I will NOT be removing my window tint. I've had this car since July and have no issues. This cop decided to be a dick FOR NOTHING!!!!

Typical cops. Trying to bust people over nothing. Seems like thats all the cops do around my hometown. They love to write exhaust tickets, tint tickets and anything else.

Down where i live now, they only catch criminals, how it should be.

How can he issue a citation when I've never been stopped for it before and I bought it from a dealership the way it is?!?

I got pulled over on Howland Blvd in Deltona a mile and a half from Captain. F*cking volusia county sheriff too. Go find some real criminals!!!!!!!

Incredibly weak probable cause.

I used to think there was too much law enforcement, now I realize it's just misallocated. Low-crime areas have too much, poor urban areas don't have enough.

Make the case that he profiled you in court, though. You won't be successful. Things don't always happen legally or in the right manner, but he didn't issue a citation, so what are you complaining about - the waste of your time? Imagine if he profiled a gang-leading drug-runner in violation of parole. Would you be complaining then?

Why did you agree to the search, then? You have a right against search and seizure; when you give up your rights, the right to bitch goes out with the rest.

Worst he could've done is write you a ticket for the tint. If he had something else, he would've used it.

So he took 10 minutes of your time. He complimented you and let you go without a citation for your tint that is illegal regardless of how long you have gone without any attention from the cops or if you bought it that way.

Get over it. Juts be happy that they are there for when you need them.

If the cop was a dick, he would have issued a citation for the tint anyway. You would have been further inconvenienced by being forced to pay or contest in court.
