Can anyone give me tips about exposure and how to dial in focus. I got a Nikon D60 and really have no idea how to use it.

You just want to let the auto focus handle the focusing.

As far as exposure goes, the exposure time matches the light where your shooting. The darker it is, the longer the shutter is open, it's the opposite for how bright it is.

The ISO setting sets how sensitive the camera's sensor is to light. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is, also with a higher ISO the shorter the shutter time has to be in a low light situation, but a higher ISO means a lot of noise.

Depending on how you set your camera up, you might not have to mess with these. ISO you MUST set up for each individual environment, take a practice shot, set the ISO to work for it. Then if you manual white balance, take another practice shot for it.

Their should be an Av setting on the Dial that auto exposures. This is okay, but it doesn't help when dealing with shadows, and it also isn't the best. Set your camera up to have center point exposure, after that your camera will expose to the center.
