is it all factory SA. if not i wouldnt do it without some money. your guns all colt and whats not can easily be reverted back to. if his isnt its worth as much cause its just a plain m14.

i wouldnt. one of my M1A's i had serious ejection issues with. plus 308 in that small of a rifle is going to slow your recovery time down, and the muzzle blast from those things are TERRIBLE.

colt: the most overrated carbine in the world. Didnt say they arent good weapons... but there are so many colt dicksuckers that bash EVERYTHING besides a 6920, it makes queasy... I have numerous variations of the ar through here all the time... colt, stag, sabre, lmt, smiths, nove's and all the cheapy's..

the top build quality is between LMT and Sabre defense. And I'm speaking lower's... LMT owns with their uppers (and for all the shmo blows that say "IGOTTAHAVEM4FEEDRAMPS!!") they are USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They where designed for a 16" carbine because in trials in Alaska, they kept jamming the 16th and 21st round. This was testing in -32* weather and the barrel harmonics caused this like freak glitch.

colt then cut some slots in the upper lock lugs and called it a 6920...

on to the op.. nahh, I'll keep my 223's please

could not agree more on all accounts. there are too many colt nuthuggers and the funniest thing is when they act like colt made the original AR.... WRONG Armalite did!!!!!

LMT and sabre are certainly top notch... the new LMT MRP piston gun.... OMFG... cool as hell but just give me a gas tube, i dont buy all the piston hype. sabre is god chit too, but i'd also have to throw noveske, and DD in the mix for top tier AR's. the VLTOR VIS is certainly awesome too.

the only current hype i buy is the properly staked gas key's. i have had them loosen before but not on any that were properly staked.

Rock River is a great gun. I own one. Value is not as high but they are great to shoot.

rock rivers are OK but its not a LMT, sabre, noveske, colt, CMMG.

first and biggest problem is they make a very very very poor attempt to stake the gas key. they might aswell try because its a failure. if you gonna do it, do it right.

their feed cuts... im not a M4 cut coolaid drinker i have a AR with over 30K rounds through it without a hitch that doesnt have M4 cuts. but they also make a poor attempt at these feed cuts and it looks like they turn a down syndrome kid with a dremel loose on them to do the cuts. once again if you gonna do it, do it right.

twist rate. CM or CL CM barrels from them only come in 1:9 twist. sure its ok for most stuff but the 1:7 really does shine with the 62+ grain stuff. their stainless barrels do offer 1:8 which is better but on a carbine i want a CL CM barrel.

so all in all for the price they are decent. stag is about the same price (or less) and is better but they dont have the selection in models RRA has. for a little more CMMG is kickass, then after that your getting into the price of LMT, noveske, DD, and sabre which are all top notch AR's.

the bcm is actually a GREAT group. M-aparts also has great uppers for a budget build (I use them all time) they use Wilson barrels which happens to be a current military contractor. I have a few personal weapons which are wilson barreled and I would be more than happy to grab one if shit hit the fan.

rra is just another bushmaster... I have a bucket of broken bolt carriers from either overtorqued/nonstaked or staked/undertorqued keys. half of which are bushmasters, the other is rra and dp's..

I usually suggest a LMT bolt+carrier... they are pressure tested and pretty much wont shatter and ruin your gun. I obviously key mine... and I go right by the book.

I'll see if I cant get a pic of one of my budget builds...
