I posted this in your other thread. Not sure if you have seen it yet.

You run it through the fork and put a nut on the end of it. The nut also adjusts your cable. My cable got real loose once, and when I looked under it the nut almost fell off. I tightened it a little and it was good again. If you over tighten it, you will screw up the throwout bearing.

Sorta like this... (only pic I could find online)

You must be thinking of the hand brake cables.. there are 2 of those, one from each wheel that connect to a small bracket, which has 1 bigger cable attached to it that goes to the hand brake...

There is only one clutch cable...

Yes, you VERY do. You've said it 18 times now:

This is your problem. NOTHING IS CONNECTED TO THE CLUTCH FORK.

There are 2 ends to the clutch cable. One is attached to the clutch quadrant at the top of the clutch pedal. The other is attached to the clutch fork itself. There are no other cables involved here. This isn't some complex system, one pedal, one cable, one fork. A connects to B connects to C.

We've all told you what you need to do: you need to get a new clutch cable.

You keep saying the cable works but nothing is connected to the clutch fork...
sounds like the threaded end broke off of the cable.

If you get under the car and look at the cable down there, and get a friend to press the clutch pedal, does the end of the cable down by the clutch fork move around?

Originally Posted by 93fourbangerstanger View Post

They dont start unless you press the clutch in, its a safety feature. If the cable is broken, the safety feature will still work. The cable has nothing to do with that safety feature. All the cable does is connect to the pedal on one end and connect to the clutch fork on the other end. When you move the pedal, the cable moves the clutch fork. Thats all. If the cable is broken, there will be no TENSION, because the cable wont be pulling against the clutch fork. The cable has nothing to do with letting the car start or not.

It doesnt make a shit if the car still starts. My guess is if you try and start it in gear right now it will try to drive away, yes?

You need to go find a mechanic because you are an idiot. I'm sorry but there has been numerous people that have came in here trying to help you but you continue to blow them off. If YOU knew what you were talking about it would have been fixed last week.

If you put it IN GEAR, press the clutch DOWN, and start it, does the car try to drive by itself while you are starting it?

If the answer is yes, the cable is broken.

If the answer is no, you have other problems.

Seriously?

Have you replaced the clutch cable in a foxbody Mustang? I have.

You're either an idiot or a troll, and the more I read your posts, the more I think it's the latter.
