I need to vent.

This is kinda a spinoff on my other post about the repo, but i thought id add it i needed to get some shit off my chest, and i like having an audience bigger then just once person sometimes so enjoy. Being in the Army is something ive really been proud of for the 2+ years i have been in. I know theres a million people out there who have been in longer than me that may or may not share the same opinion about serving as I do, but i wanna share with you guys who arnt enlisted in the military. Bear in mind this is my point of view and, my opinions, not everyone who is a soldier. I mentioned in a previous post about how everyone in military towns makes me sick with there fake patriotism. Let me clarify exactly what i mean. I left on leave after returning from a year in Iraq, and having just moved into a duplex i asked the woman that runs the local property management how i was supposed to pay my rent if im going to be out of state. She told me to just drop a postdated check in the drop box and that would be fine. After i thanked her for the information, she asked me if i had just returned from deployment and thanked me for serving. So it seemed uneventless, until i returned from leave and found out they had my Cadillac impounded. Why? because I pulled it out of storage and parked it in my driveway, but the registration had expired while i was in Iraq. I wasnt driving it so didnt think to register it. Well in this dumbass state, its legal for any city employee to come on your private property and check your vehicles at any time, and if they are illegal they can have it impounded.

Flash back to the fake ass smiles, handshakes, thank you's, and me telling her i was going on leave and wouldnt be back until the 15th of this month. Do people really give a shit about anything but money? Not in this shit hole. So i ended up paying $171.89 to some wrecker place when they probably paid the property management $100 for the account, just so they could legally rob me. Oh the asskissing spreads thin, I just love it when I drive behind a drunk driver and he has a FOP (fraternal order of police) sticker on his, car or insert some other kiss the cops ass bumper sticker here, on the back bumper of his pickup truck/ricer/whatever. I meet a small amount of decent people on a monthly basis, half are in the military. Anyone ever heared of a waiver for utility deposits simply for being part of the United States Armed Forces? If you have you tell me what the point is. So you can pay the deposit later? Seemingly thats how people in Texas define the word waive. But normally when i say the word waive aloud in this state, they might raise there hand move it back and forth and say, "Hi,.....I like money". I tried to use the military waiver to waive a $300 deposit for electricity, and they asked me when i wanted to pay it. I had to ask if they heared what i said, and then repeated myself. To end that i had to pay $348 to get my electricity turned back on. Ive been ripped off in this town on plenty of occassions but i dont have the patience to write about all of them, and surely you havent the patience to read about all them so...anyways,

It kills me being here in Texas making nothing, while civilians are working a few miles down the street making 3-4 times as much money as me doing the exact, same, thing. Im doing something i think is quite noble, yet im running my credit into the ground. Because, the government cant pay me on time. I wish i had the luxury of being able to tell my bosses, im not working until i get paid. But i cant.

I read the newspaper alot. Everytime i see a soldier in the press, they always have something really patriotic to say, whether its about our government or the war in Iraq. Look i know why they say bland unthought responses to the media. But it just sucks to not be able to have an opinion. Having been over in Iraq and not in a "Green Zone" where nothing happens, but actually in the middle of war and violence, i have a different opinion of the war over there. I wont go into specifics, but my general idea is its a waste of time, lifes, and money to be over there. I cant stand it when i have to continually hear BS about that place. I feel sorry for new enlistee's all gung ho to go over there and make a difference, and save the USA.

I still love my country, but i dont like alot of people in it. Maybe the French's opinion of american people is correct. In my opinion we are a bunch of assholes . Maybe im the asshole. But then im not out trying to rape every asset in life. I just wanna live equal and free. I dont go up to people all day with a chip on my shoulder, im mostly a polite and quiet person. With my polite, quiet personality...i really get walked on. Or people innitally assume they can take advantage of my kindness, until i confront them. Why does it have to be like this? Why should i always have to be on the defensive? Why is a military town so different from a city of commerce, like the one i used to live in?

I dont know. But thanks for letting me vent, incase this does get to be on the boards. Ive run out of things to bitch and complain about tho, and hope your atleast slightly entertained.
