Laptop insurance: should I buy it for my new high performance laptop?

I just bought a laptop that cost a lot of money. It has an 18 inch monitor and other assorted bells and whistles. The manufacturer, HP, offers accidental insurance coverage. Do not confuse accidental insurance coverage with hardware or software technical support coverage for things like viruses or troubleshooting a blank monitor or a Blue Screen of Death. I use my computer primarily (75%) for work and school. If you were me (and no, I don't have a lot of disposable income to spend) would you buy an accidental coverage policy?

HP charges $250 for two years of coverage. Here's what HP's accidental coverage policy covers:

1) Protection from damage caused by drops, spills, and electrical surges
2) Convenient door-to-door PC pickup and return with roundtrip shipping included

Sounds good, I'll think I'll buy the accidental coverage protection plan. But not from HP. I'll buy it from Costco. That's where I bought the computer. Costco charges $125 for 2 years worth of coverage whereas HP charges $250 for it. And HP WILL NOT deal. They will not and do not bend on price. They might take $100 off a $2500 laptop, but no more. Darn HP acts like it's a sellers market, which it must be.

When the pron shop sells vids at "buy 3 get one free" in the $10 section....thats like 30 something videos....or insurance on the laptop. Eh, I'd go with the insurance.

while we're kinda sorta on the topic..

i got a dell laptop this past christmas and since the day i got it, the E button falls off ALL the time. the way the button underneath the plastic cover is designed, i'm afraid to glue it because i could easily screw it up, so i want dell to fix it. how does that work? i heard they come out to my house and fix it. is that right? i just want this fixed, i don't want to send it in and them replace the whole computer or anything

should be it bwal. Ive only dealt with corporate protection plans where this is the case sometimes they just send the part and wed fix it ourselves, but if it was something big like motherboard or screen replacement I would have them come do it.
