I went to go get my dumb cat and he was sitting by a bush. It was dark out so I couldnt see real good. When I bent down to grab him, I noticed he had his paw on the back half of a snake. I quickly grabbed Krypto by his mane because I thought maybe he got bit or something. I only seen the back half of the snake when I grabbed the cat. The snake then slithered real quick into the hawthorne bushes. The snake was striped red, yellow and black and was "small" only about a foot and a half judging by what I seen.

It could have been a harmless Scarlet snake or a nasty coral snake. I didnt see him long enough to pay attention to what order the stripes were. Im pretty sure I seen alot of red so Im hoping it was just a scarlet snake thats cruising around my house.


In anycase, I want to "remove" the fucker. Ive killed green snakes before around here but this one makes me nervous for some reason just because I dont want my cat getting messed up.

Is there like a trap or something I can make? Is there a way to trap these things within reason or do I have to just go out there and hunt it?

Any ideas from any "snake " members would be cool.

it may sound stupid but my wifes granny has a chicken house and well snakes like eggs. so she sets out some golf balls and the snakes cant tell the difference and eat them. well obviously they cant digest them so they die. kinda cruel and in-humaine but yea it works

I cant remember the order. I was too busy "evacuating the kitty". I wasnt sure if he got bit so I rushed him inside so I could check him out...and he was fine.

I went back out with a flashlight and couldnt find him.

My memory is showing me more red than black or yellow. Im thinking it was a scarlet but I really want to catch the fucker. I want to see him up close. Any ideas on how to trap it?

Awesome! Thanks Dennis. I dont care about being cruel. I dont want my cat getting bit by something like that and dying.

The last snakes I just caught and I have a shovel I use just to chop the heads off. I know, I should probably move them to the woods or something but, meh, I kill them.

i wish i could give you advice on trapping a snake, but instead i'll tell you a funny story which should tell you not to take any advice i could give you on this subject

when i was about 12 or 13 i had a california king snake named curly. he wasn't real big, maybe a foot and a half or two. he was small enough to live in one of those little critter carry boxes. anyways, one day i changed out his water and apparently i didn't close the top all the way. i looked everywhere for curly but i never could find him. i figured that if i went and bought a small mouse (that's what i always fed him) i could put it in his cage and he'd come back. well it's been about five years now and curly never came back. he's around the house somewhere i imagine.

oh and by the way, that little mouse only died about 9 months ago

Put some food in a bucket that is deep enough that it can't get out of, it will go into the bucket to get food but won't be able to get back out.

Coral snakes try to imitate other snakes and look harmless if I remember right.

This might be extreme but just blow the damn thing away with a 12 gauge before it possibly does something to your cat or even to you.

they look exactly like a milk snake excluding the pattern of colors. Hence the ole saying.

If I can catch him, I may try to keep him as apet just because it was so "vivid" in color. I have an old fish tank I can turn into a snake hut or whatever. It would be fun to learn about them a bit and feed the fucker.
