What sucks nowadays for all auto-manufacturers is federal restrictions. All the safety standards, emissions standards, anti-theft standards, etc. all come into play. It becomes more and more difficult (not to mention more expensive) to design and manufacture the same car every year, while making it conform to federal law.

This is why you see plastic cars that are destroyed after hitting a deer, cars that are totaled from some hail, and cars that are junked when nobody can get rid of the electrical gremlins.

Just an example.. Look at all the old classic/antique American iron you see sitting outside in people's fields.. cars that have been there for YEARS. How many hail dents to you see on them?

^+1 yep so true, the laws are getting way too strict and most likely will result in ending several big cars companies and probably end up having everybody driving only one car that i hate with a passion... prius

UPDATE: We've now heard back from Planet LSX's source at GM: "Apparently this was an early production nose, slapped on to get it to Hennessey for parts development. The issue has been addressed and repaired on other cars. Something about a bolted bracket not being installed properly." Glad to hear that! [Planet LSX via Camaro5]
