Tell me specifically what the confederate flag means in your life and why you feel such pride when seeing it flown. That would be the best way to get your point across.

The Confederate Battle Flag should not be looked upon as a sign of hate. The Confederate Batte Flag is a symbol of the men, both white AND black, who fought and died. Anyone who thinks that the flag is a sign of racism should know that inbetween 60,000 to 93,000 black free men fought under that flag. The Confederate Flag is a showing of heritage, a reminder of the true history of the civil war. History is tought by the people that won the wars, therefore the American society has been tought to hate everything to do with the Confederacy. I do not agree with hate groups waving the Confederate Flag, that is wrong. I wave the flag for the simple fact that I am extremely proud of it and will never take it down. The flag is a symbol of the true history and a way of life that is gone forever.
It has to do with the fact that my ancestors fought and died for something they believed in and I will not hide from my families past, I am not ashamed nor will I ever be.
the flag is designed based off the british flag and the american flag for that purpose it took the x shape from the british and the stars from american flag in order to show that it derived from those two countries...no one ever complained about the rebel flag until the NAACP started saying it was racist but if you havnt noticed every thing is racist to them. Also the flag was designed before the war.

People commonly believe that the civil war was fought because of slavery. That is a common misconception. We, the south, fought for state's rights and what we believed in. The confederate flag is a symbol of our ancestors and heritage, not a symbol of racism and hatred. I can trace my ancestry back to people who fought in the civil war and I am damn proud that my fathers fought for what the believed was right.

I agree with most everything you have written and I commend you on making such a detailed case for your beliefs. However, our world has changed and the high percentage of people in this world view the flag as a hate symbol. So, why keep opening wounds and dividing people based on your "ancestory". As far as the way of life being gone forever, you have let it die if that is the case. Being a true southerner is not about waving a piece of fabric around under the mask that it has some great history (the south was defeated) or riding around with it in your truck just to assert your discontentment with life on others. It's about being a family man, working for your money, providing for extended family, staying with one woman for your whole life (something most self proclaimed "southerners forgot long ago), raising kids with that woman, being honest, doing what you say you are going to do, taking the time to help people in need, being there for friends in the worst of moments, etc.
