Joining a Gym
So... Since I started the position I currently fill, I've gained about 40lbs. Mainly because I went from a job working with my hands all day that was SUPER hot in teh summer and still stuffy in the winter to a job in air conditioning sitting on my ass. I haven't changed any of my eating habits since the new job, but I do drink to much soda.
So, whats the plan? I've almost compelty quit drink soda (allow myself 2 a day) elimnate eating fast food. Which I've done and lastly, join a gym. So my questions are: Is there any gym's I should stay away from? Any that come highly reccomended? What should I be looking to pay? Should I get a 6 month or a year membership? Should I "hire" a trainer or stick with what I know? I've done the work out thing before and understand the "routine". Any other advice? Thanks guys and gals. Jake |

i would advise getting a short membership incase you get bored of going and dont get a trainer unless its free because i think they are only for people who dont know squat and the only thing they can give you that the internet cant give is pushing you to your limit, as far as diet, what you said is probably the best thing for you

anywhere like golds....1 is going to be alot of money 2. there are going to be gym rats everywhere...id look around and try to find a nice small gym.
some gyms will offer a few free sessions with a trainer.... cardio should be your biggest concern. easy stuff...mix it up some. hit the bike. the oliptical. the treadmill....jumprope. sprints inbetween lifts..... start buying a muscle and fitness....helps alot |

Gyms are different everywhere. Comes down to exactly what you want vs what they can offer.
20 - 25 a month is pretty usual. Personal trainers have the potential to get expensive. If you don't want to spend money on them just look up some workout plans with google.

Ask around to some fellow gym rats... they know the best places... sometimes the best place is a local owned thing 100-125 for six months six month membership... better deal than monthly most of the time.... dont tie uself down to a year membership... most gyms have a trainer present an they usually are willing to give a prospective client a "sample" try it and see if they can really help u. don't fart while lifting...especially near a hottie |

I go to a gym....and I go for two reasons. 1 I pay for it. 2 I want to look sweet. Make those your motivation sources and you will be fine.
Just don't go once or twice a week and expect to look awsome. You have to be dedicated or just don't do it. |

I went to my local y for like a year and half... It was oksy until I really got into working out... the music was well not great for working out, and the majority of memebers were like you said elderly people that would just piddle and use the equipment so I had to wait forever between sets...

I just joined a soccer league about 10 minutes ago. I need the workouts. But I would suck in a gym because I have a hard time with self motivation. I can chase a ball around though.
