Horrible Friend?

So tonight was prom and after we went to one of my best friends houses, some booze was there and some people got way way way too drunk.
I didn't drink a drop but I was really really scared that we were going to get in trouble (my parents would honestly kill me if they found out what happended there) well we got most of the drunks to bed then I left because i was so scared. The girl whose house it was was sorta freaking out but there were a couple of other people who were sober helping make sure everything got taken care of.
I left and I know she is mad that i didn't stay to help.
Am I right to take myself out of the situation or should I have stayed and helped?(evryone was winding down)

I was never that scared in my life.

If it was to the point of liek death, and she was helpless, then yea, but if other people were there, and a bunch of people werent needed, then youre good. It seems serious, but if there were people taking care of it, then i would say youre still a good friend. You didnt drink on prom night, thats enough right there. Hope you had a good time

Sounds like some typical hs bullshit dont worry about it itll blow over before you know it. By having the party at her house she brought it upon herself so its her deal not yours.

Really scared of what? Her throwing a fit? Seeing her "next year" when school continues on, graduating in 9 months after that and moving on with your life? High school is a joke, end of the story, what happens happens, let it be, no one is going to give a shit less ___ days or even weeks later, especially after you graduate.

If you ask me shes in the wrong for having a party not knowing what to expect especially with high school kids that will unknowingly get so drunk they cant walk/talk/etc off a 12 pack, break stuff in the house, puke everywhere, stain the carpets, the list goes on thats only the very start of most things and youre just freaking out bc youre one of the ones that dont drink.

If youre so responsible to stay sober which it sounds like you are then you just need a little sense knocked into you and youll be in good shape...in other words if youre gonna stay sober and not drink just flat out dont mess with the drunks or join them because usually regardless of being sober or not if youre underage the consequences will be the same if they get in trouble youll be suckered right on in one way or the other...example....you may still be sober, but if youre still at a location/party/house with a bunch of drunk people and alcohol you can damn well bet youve got a MIP comin your way if the cops start handing them out. You said "I left and I know she is mad that i didn't stay to help." Well that bitch better grow up and understand something awfully quick- Her party - Her house - Her responsibility - End of story. Sounds to me you were just tryin to be nice to get a lil pussy. But what do I know. I spent most of HS turnin wrenches for beer for people nearly twice my age, drinkin that beer, chasin pussy and gettin thrown in jail.

Sorry to be an ass but its true. For one theres no reason to be scared, two if you are indeed so scared, even though you decide to stay sober find some new people to hang out with itll be best in the long run if youd prefer not to drink and such, and above all that bitch needs to take responsibly for her own parties and not expect other people to do so.

And to help you and your little high school friends. Even if youre absolutely shit faced drunk tell the cops the truth. Truth > "getting off by luck" will happen any day of the week unless you come across a complete dick or have a warrant out....and in that case I hope youre dressed warm and not wearing flip flops like the typical high school metro sexual, id imagine barefoot in the drunk tank would lead to some nice staph (you def. dont want that), athletes feet, or worse for all anyone knows . Ive lived on my own since I was 17 and had the cops come knocking quite often, as long as the truth is told and you act reasonable with them...Example: not the high school tool with a bush of hair and a hat petty much just sitting on the top of your head at a 45* angle upwards and 45* angle sideways answering the door trying to act like mr badass, and people arent leaving your house, getting pulled over and saying they came from your house, youll be in good shape.

Some may agree some may disagree. Just a little input from me . Hope all goes well for you and if that skank that threw the party tries to be a bitch lay it out plain and simple for her. Tell her it was her party, her place, her responsibility no one elses so to deal with the shit her self and quit putting it off on other people.

This man speaks the truth. Oh, and those guys in HS that acts all cool and the like? In 5 years they will be taking your order at McDonalds.

HS is very irrelevant.

You did a nice thing by helping and have nothing to worry about at this point. There's a thing called "responsibility" that apparently you have but quite a few of the others didn't. If the police came there and decided to charge everyone for underage possession of booze, guess what? You'd be screwed too even though you didn't drink. Sometimes just the mere circumstances we find ourselves in are enough to cause problems, but we all have to assess the risks we are willing to take even when it's nothing more than our presence.

You done the right thing by removing yourself from harms way. If you all were in your mid 20's, same kinda of party situation going on and someone starts to do something illegal, it will be better to remove yourself from this situation. Just like if the host house parents came home and found these drunkard teenagers at their home. The parents are responsible for these minors at their home whether they are there or not. No sense in you getting your ass in a sling for someone elses fuck up's. Just like going to jail for something someone else did, it's not worth it. When you are growed up, say another 10yrs, you are going to face a boat load of different situations like this. Don't let peer pressure make you do something you don't want to do. It's your life and your responsibility to look out for #1.

Sounds like nothing to be scared of. You weren't drinking so you won't get in trouble. Get some sleep and tomorrow is another day

lol... It took me like 5 min to start reading this thread because it started with: "So tonight was prom" but anyway, I have friends that have gotten off the hook by not drinking when caught at a party... And I have some that haven't, so I would not put too much weight on that fact.

But at any rate, getting away from the situation was a very responsible thing to do, esp if you have already helped out some. If your parents are crazy strict like mine were, then you did the same thing I would have done. And if the chick is really pissed, then blame your strict parents for having to leave and not risk getting caught. (believe it or not, thats what they are there for)

And the one thing that you can learn from this is.... *drum roll*.... Do NOT have parties at your own house! That was my creed through high school, and even now in college. It might get you "cool points" with your friends, but no amount of cool points will repay the monetary damage one rowdy party can cause... period

Your parents may be angry at first but be sure to tell them before they find out from someone else and when you tell them, make sure they know how upset YOU were by the situation.

When they see that you had the adult view on the situation, their anger will turn to pride very quickly.

Removing yourself from the situation is always the best option. Unless, of course, someone is in dire need of your assistance.

If these people are angry at you for that - then they are not true friends.

Be proud of the way you handled it.

I am!!

Remember, Compliments on mom's hair, and flowers. Help dad cut the grass, and ask him to teach you how to do something. Then you break it to them real nice and easy. You can't just jam it in balls deep, you need to ease it, then work it a comfortable pace.

Their anger reflects their embarassment and the fact that they are taking it out on you means they are sorry they didn't act more like you....

High Schoolers are fucked up like that....and some of them never grow out of it. I know adults that still act like that. Stupid....

Wait what? Scared of getting caught not drinking underage?

If you don't want to be somewhere, then don't be there. Who gives a shit if some girl gets mad. Girls get mad all the time, usually, its over something stupid.

I wouldn't even sweat it, why the hell would you beat yourself up over some random skank being mad. Secondly, shes a dumbass, because the party is at HER house. Anyone that throws a party should expect that people will get drunk, drunk people will be stupid, shit will be broke/stolen/urinated on.

If you see her at school punch her in the face.

I was in the same situation as you a month or so ago. Except me and one of my best friends were the only sober ones... we had to stay and help out everyone. WORST damn night of my life - bitch drunk girls trying to drive home, people getting sick, being too loud, ect.

You're lucky you were able to leave man, you didn't do anything wrong they didn't really need you to be there helping out.

Thats why I left when I did because I wanted to still be able to get out.
There were some other kids that came over and didn't drink once I left which helped.
