For the same price ($1,000 roughly) Id go with a Canon 40D, but then again I like canon and I have no use for a movie mode since I have a HD camcorder.

well, I think its been explained here several times. but HDR is a high Dynamic Range photo, In the simplest terms, you take 3 pictures, One Underexposed, One normal exposed and one over exposed, then you merge them all together in a program like photoshop or special HDR software, basically it lets you get the details of the darker areas and such. It works best with a D-slr camera, but you can do it with a regular point and shoot as well.

I tend to keep mine subtle, although some of them look good over-saturated.

here is a really simple one I took on the way home from Vegas a few months back

here is one that I took of my Town. Its slightly over saturated now that I look at it .

one I took of my car a while back before It was lowered, I used Photomatix, which I don't like as much as another program I use called Dynamic Photo HDR

Canon and Nikon are both really nice cameras, The Nikon D40, D60 and a Canon xti, xsi or xs are all affordable cameras (they all run about 500-ish dollars and over, cheap for DSLR cameras ) Some people here were finding killer deals on Ebay that came with More than one lens. ( I could be wrong but I think Goober bought one from Ebay)

Mostly with Dslr cameras, you want to find a good body and invest your money mostly in good lenses.
