Cobra bumper "filled in" look...Gay or Great?

So, it backed into someones trailer hitch yesterday, and need to replace the bumper. What do you think of the Cobra bumpers with the letters filled in. Im undecided. Tell me what you think and post up some pictures for me. Thanks. Here's what I'm talking about;

It's a good looking bumper, that's for sure, and I'd rather them fill it in than be cheesey and have COBRA on the back of a GT. It would be so cool if someone could put MUSTANG across the back of those bumpers.

I think you should do it. It's not something that you really see a lot of and is already played out like a lot of exterior mods for these cars.

At first I thought it would look good, but after seeing the pic I am not so sure... If you have shaved all the badges I would say it would look good

Yeah, I definately dont want to be a fake Cobra (I already have your wheels, they look to good and are too available/cheap to pass up)

I was wondering the same thing, it would be awesome if it said MUSTANG on it, but I don't think that would be possible. Someone should manufacture it though.

I think it is just because it is such a big empty space and we are used to seeing something back there. Being a close up shot that really makes you focus on that area doesn't help either. Like I said, if you could get MUSTANG on the back, it would be killer.

I would have to talk to my body shop friends, but I know you could do it, it would probably just be a ton of work.

That's the only picture I could find, and I don't really like that view of it. I'm hoping I will get a couple more pictures to judge.

I like it. What would be cool is getting some SS "MUSTANG" inserts and center them on there.

Like I said, I would have to talk to my friends to see if it is possible, but I don't see why you couldn't 'cut' the MUSTANG from a stock bumper and than cut a space in the new bumper and find a way to mold them in. Kind of like replacing a quarter panel. You would just really have to know what you are doing or you will have cracks and ugly junk in the final paint.

Yeah I mean I could seeing it looking good but then I thought how they may look just chillin' on there and not sitting in the recessed "MUSTANG" cutouts like they normally do.

That bumper is curved so without the flat surface to mount the insert letters on it would really look cheesey I think. I think it would painfully obvious that someone just stuck the letters on there.

Nothing looks cooler than an exterior mod that appears factory.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend. I'd just smooth the termie bumper, and call it a day. Sure what RK says would look tits, but when you start molding that stuff it gets costly.

I had an elbow molded for the intake of my Duramax. It was the piece that went form the CAI to the turbo. The stock piece y'ed off into the intake silencer. I at first put a 2" rubber fernco cap, but it blew off. I had a company make this elbow that I designed, and it coast $1400.00 for the prototype. I sold a couple, and never got it patented. Now PPE sells them.

I agree with the shaved badge look if you do that, otherwise it looks kind of goofy. I also feel that all of us are biased towards the stock look with 'mustang' on the bumper. Someone who doesn't know or isn't used to seeing the stock look 53894839493 times everyday wouldn't care as much.

would definetly keep it smooth, and not try to add the mustang badge back on. i think that would cheese it up...

I would just leave the Cobra lettering alone unless you have the extra couple of hundered. Thats what I was quoted just to have it filled in and paint is another couple of hundred. Your not trying to have a "fake snake" its just that you want a nice bumper but dont have the money to fill it in.
The Cobra bumprer and the GT bumper have different angles so with the idea of "cutting out" the Mustang lettering and "cutting it into" the Cobra bumper ......wont work.
I have thought about this a LONG time ago, searched the web, asked questions and looked really good at both bumpers.
If you had a lot of money there would be a very slim chance that it would come out looking like stock.
Good luck in your decession.

Just to let you know that they do make the Cobra bumpers without the Cobra lettering
