MM Support Group

I recently read a thread in another forum here entitled " I Must Be Drunk ". It occured to me that some of us here are spending entirely way too much money on their mustangs. This as I see it can lead to serious problems at home ie: Bills not being paid on time, wife wondering where all the money in the checking account went, girlfriend feeling like she's second best, baby going without formula....and the list goes on.

Perhaps its' time for MM to institute a Support Group forum where each of us can provide tips on controlling our spending and gain valuable knowlege on how to budget for the Mods we want or just say No!

Although very tempted, I for one have exercised serious moderation in my spending...in the 6 months that I have owned my 'stang I have upgraded nicely on a budget if only $87.42 with items such as a tiger skin stretch over steering wheel cover, a nifty suction cup compass, chrome valve stem caps and curb feelers. In fact today I'm headed to out to find a license plate holder that says something like "Badass" or "Big Dude".

So please guys and gals, lets seriously address this problem before it's too late for some of us. I love it here.

Impulse buys are the worst. If you are going to spend moneyon you Mustang (and you are) you need to plan. What do you want your Mustang to become and then go after it.

i've been a mechanic by trade for almost 10 years, but ever since i was a little kid, i've been taking stuff apart and putting it back together. my addiction started with my explorer (2002, 4.0L V-6), actually. it was innocent enough at first. i was looking for ways to improve my gas mileage. so i put in a volant CAI. loved the power gain and the way the car sounded. so, naturally, exhaust and headers came next, then a chip. after i got the mustang, i stopped modding the explorer, mostly because i had a better modding platform with the stang and a hell of a lot more parts available. while i don't have a whole lot done to the stang, i mod as my budget allows, so my wife actually supports my addiction because she knows that i'll be responsible about it. but i can definately see how it could get out of hand real quick.

Well I'm hopin that the purchase of a new car...that I need to make payments on will suffice me for a while...or atleast til the car is payed off because I already have ideas for the car. Yea, don't flame me because it's not a Mustang...or Ford for that matter. I drove the car, and fell in love.

Yea, it's a car I have loved since it came out, and I don't how I got the opportunity to possibly buy one, but I did. Nobody should worry I will still be here to help everyone I can help out with their Mustangs, and to try to make all the petespugs, that dodo guy with the camaro, the other camaro guy, v6smoker, and others feel inadequate when they try to bash our cars, and all of that. I still love Mustangs, but I want a 350, and bad.

hey man, a fast car is a fast car, regardless of who makes it. as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters, right?

Thats how I feel. I am a car enthusiast, not a mustang enthusiast. I love many types of cars, but it's Mustangs that I know...now I'm just broadening my horizons. I wanted to drive a 6 speed, but I drove an automatic. There is only 3 hp difference between the two, and the auto has 14 more ft lb tq, I think that carbon fiber composite driveshaft helps out a bit with those numbers. They are fast stock, and me I have a hard leaving anything alone.

i think this thread is null and void due to the fact that these forums are here for the sole purpose to show, tell and explain how to do stuff so that labor costs are drastically reduced in turn making everyone on MM forum a "support group"

i got out of hand and spent over 50% of my income on mods in the first year. granted, i was 16 and my only responsibilities were my insurance and gas payment. by now that i will be off to college in late july, i am putting together a budget and no longer modding my car. i am happy where it is now.

ill be modding my car untill i either cant afford it or start out wiht something new. im just glad to be in the position to get what i want when i want it. i pretty much need to finish building the fuel system and then slap the turbos on and let jim tune it. it will be a good time. although ill never get my money out of this car, it has been a ball building it and plying with it
