I can tether my iphone and use it as a modem : )

For the iPhone? or their computers? I don't own an iPhone.. but I've used Macs since forever. If I got a expensive phone it would be an iPhone over a blackberry just because of the fact I use OS X at home and work.

OS X is the best consumer operating system out there right now.

That's a pretty bold statement as "best" is defined by the user, based on their needs. It might be the best for you but something else may be the best for meyself.

I haz two iPhones...one on T-Mobile and one on AT&T. Each has their ups and downs. I love 3rd party apps from the jailbroken one...but I love the 3G speeds on the AT&T (and better coverage)

I love how everyone is bashing at&t because we won't support tethering or mms when it launches. If everyone can remember correctly, 3.0 software was announced as coming out "by end of summer". So what did att say? "MMS will be supported by end of summer" right along the lines with when the 3.0 software was going to drop. It's not even to the close to the end of summer, and apple gave at&t 1 WEEK to accomadate over 10 million accounts to have the ability to MMS. I'm sorry apple, it doesn't work like that. The day they announced the new iphone coming out, and the price of the 8 gb 3g dropping, we in store had no clue. It wasn't until hours later that we could actually sell the 8 gig for $100. APPLE DIDN'T TELL ANYONE ANYTHING. So no, AT&T did not drop the ball, apple didn't allow enough time for at&t to re-provision EVERY iphone account to MMS. So enough bashing on at&t. I would go into detail about how iphone features work as a group, but that would take way too long. Which is why we were on par with apple's original word "by end of summer". Same goes for tethering. If apple were on any other carrier's "3g network" (all a joke with maybe exception for verizon, but not only is their CDMA network not as fast, you can't do simultaneous voice/data on ANY other network but att) it would be the exact same thing and everyone would be bashing on that company.

I'll say that I agree that Apple didn't give enough notice for the MMS messaging.

As far as advanced notice on the upcoming phone, BS. I knew when the new phone was going to be announced at least a month before Apple announced it. Apple does the same thing every time they release a new product, they let the supply of the old product run low. The iPhone is no exception. If AT&T has an extra stock of old phones they have no one to blame but themselves for not looking forward. Customers were able to see what was happening so the business should be as well.

Last I check, AT&T was going to allow tethering but NOT by the end of summer and they would not give a date. I see the excuse for no MMS as being valide but there's no good excuse for no tethering. I would bet it's a good year before they allow the iPhone to be tethered w/out Jailbreak.

Congrats, you have made the same statement thousands of others have made without knowing what's in AT&T's contract.

Tethering has been available for a long time. People say it isn't available on the iphone, but... it is. Same with MMS. Unfortunately, it only works with jailbroken phones. There is a reason WHY both of these features are not present on current stock phones. Tethering is not allowed in AT&T's contract (most people don't read the contract, so they bitch about a service that's not available thinking someone is behind the technology curve). Why? Because they want you to buy one of their network cards and pay extra for wireless network service. MMS.... AT&T and Apple were both hoping to get away from multimedia text because they were pushing for more use of email. This has been talked about for quite some time. Also, AT&T doesn't have to make any preparations to support MMS for the iphone other than to figure out whether or not they're going to charge more for the service. The technology is already in place.

I find it rather humorous that two things that have been explained time and again are continuously bashed and the iphone is sarcastically referred to as "revolutionary" even after said items of interest have been explained.

Please, show me what phone had a full touch screen 5 years ago. How about something just as interactive. Perhaps a 5 year old phone with 8 or 16, or even 32 GB of BUILT IN storage space. Anyone have a 5 year old phone with GPS capability?

The truth is, the iphone IS revolutionary, and competitors are clamoring to keep up. The latest "iphone killer" fell terribly short in it's latest reviews. And the new iphone hasn't even been released yet. The current iphone has features built into it by apple that simply aren't active for one reason or another. MMS, Tethering, Video Recording, just to name a few. All of which can be turned on via jailbreaking.

Jailbreaking... heh. This brings up another point of contention. So many people piss and moan about this one. "Well, you shouldn't have to jailbreak a phone, blah blah blah...." Really? You know what's funny about this one? I've never heard someone bitch about having to have a phone unlocked to use on another network. In essence it's the same thing. The iphone stands out so it gets attacked.... of course mostly by people who've never touched one or who have only held one in their hands for 10 seconds.

Sounds a lot like cool bam bashing vista with his astounding 30 minutes of experience with the product.

It's ok though, for I am a hypocrite. I was an iphone basher until I actually got one. So was my girlfriend with her Goddamned blackberry, then I bought her an iphone. I have a few friends who busted my balls constantly... then they bought one. Apple must have done something right if it got people like me who absolutely hate the company to buy their product. hmmmmmm

Att knew when the phone was coming out..same time as last year. And yes you can mms on jailbroken phones. Why wouldnt everyone want to jailbreak? free apps, better stuff in general. I dont see why people complain about jailbreaking..it takes 10 minutes..maybe. It might void the warranty..but just restore with a non patched firmware..another 20 min. Easy shit

New camera... didn't have it figured out yet. Currently I have a photo of the mess at work that is named "Megan Fox.jpg." Gets my coworkers every time I email it to 'em.

I do know that tethering and MMS is available if you jailbreak the phone. MMS is available STANDARD on even the free phones. Tethering was also available on the Razr V3 5 years ago.......revolutionary.

Also, your iPhone does NOT have GPS. Your iPhone has some triangulation software that determines your position from a cell signal, NOT GPS. GPS is derived from 24 GPS satellites (there's actually 32 but 8 are extra) in geosynchronous orbit. If you take a GPS phone to the middle of the desert it will still tell you where you are. If you take your iPhone and it's "GPS" to the middle of the desert, it will NOT tell you where you are.

Again, you do NOT have GPS on your iPhone. My E71 DOES have GPS, tethering, and MMS straight out of the box. I don't have 32GB storage straight from the box but I can buy a 16GB micro SD card and plug it in. I'm not here to say my phone is better than the iPhone b/c better is up to the user. All I'm saying is the iPhone isn't revolutionary by any means.

This is essentially saying it has GPS:

Stating a bunch of capabilities of the iPhone (with the exception of GPS).
