ironic import

There was this guy at a kegger the other day and I herd him say "who's pos 5.0 is out there." I was right behind him. He was drunk and talking his ass off so I thought this might be fun. He owned a honda accord and was trying to cover all the bases of why his car was king and mine was crap. (2007 to 1987 easy to compare right?) So I just let him dig deeper and deeper.

then switched the subject and asked him what he did. He said he used to work in customer support for cingular untill his job was outsorced. and now works at home depot.

Now is it just me or was this guy just calling me the idiot for buying domestic when he drives an import and his job was outsorced?

The guys who built your car are probably getting laid off as well.

I think he was drunk, so it's not worth remembering.

When you buy a foreign auto or anything for that matter you send money to that country inturn causing the demand on domestics to slow down and causeing layoffs IN OUR OWN COUNTRY. Mabey that is why our country will not last another 50 years with everything from wal-mart to jc-penny being imported and nothing being made in america.

when all of our products are made across the world all they have to do is raise there prices wich will happen eventually due to inflation and we will soon see our economy look as bad as russia. wal-mart says they help america buy reducing prices, but that is for the time being. think about the future. with there population they have the ability to make inflation skyrocket and america will not have any factories or the money to sustain the population.

What happend to the zenith tv company (claim to be made in america, only small percent in usa) hoover shut down its last america factory a long time ago. I worked at jcpenny for a bit and only the boxes were made in america all the products are imports. It will save you a dollar today but we will be the ones who endup working for $0.40 an hour as the tables turn.

Ah man that was funny yes outsourcing does cost jobs of american citizens which sucks but it also helps companies to survive. If you look at economics outsourcing will not kill the U.S. economy. It will in fact over time create a more sophisticated American worker. Comparing to russia is down right insane the soviet union fell do too coruption and spending what they don't have. The national debt should be more of a concern too america than the outsourcing of jobs. Also the fact that americans on average no longer save any money they just go into more debt. I know this is a very personal subject as some may have lost jobs to outsourcing so I don't mean to offend you.

Sure, I sent PROFITS to Japan. However, I also paid the paychecks of several auto plant workers right here in the USA.

My car was built here, using quite a few American made parts. I hate your reasoning because it's extremely uneducated and it makes you sound like you're grasping at straws trying to blame everybody else except Ford for making the mistakes it's made.

Grow up.

but it used to be an all american auto market. ford didnt come out with th model-T and rename it something else in japan that same year

"create a more sophisticated American worker" yeah you go from getting $13 an hour to make the product to $8.50 to scan it in a warehouse. and as far as companies getting stronger look past that. how strong will they get and how bad will that be for middle class?

I was going to take a class on computer programming degree class and they didnt even offer it anymore because the job market for it was so weak and the prof. said all the jobs were over seas. they can say that jobs are not dissapearing ther just changing. There right they are changing and the first thing to change is you're pay.

Blame the Unions. They've sucked the American auto industry dry. It's hard for Ford and Chevy to make a buck when they're paying an uneducated assembly line worker 25 an hour, with full health insurance and benefits for their entire family.

I remember reading that GM spent millions on viagra prescriptions for it's employees nationwide in 05.

Then their employees get pregnant and the health insurance costs go up for GM.

It's a vicious cycle, and it all started with the union. Unless you're skilled in computer technology, a union assembly line worker should be paid about 15, 16 bucks an hour tops.

Blame the American worker and the union for companies going overseas.
