Favorite?

All these food threads again are making me hungry. I found a steak frozen in the back of the freezer and marinated it in American Ale for dinner. Turned out really good for a cheap steak. The kids and I were talking about what our favorite cuisine was. My daughter is all about Italian and my son is big on German foods like schnitzels and kraut. I like Mexican the best and wifey likes German and polish food best too.

What do you like best?

Yeah it takes a bit to learn how to cook middle eastern dishes correctly. The hard part is you purposely want to burn certain things, but you dont want to burn it too much (thats the hardest thing imo though....some may find difficulty in different areas. But that could be said for cooking any types of food really)

By far my favorite dish is Ghormeh sabzi. Heres a link to the recipe
Gastronomie: Ghormeh Sabzi, or Persian Green Herb Stew

My favorite thing to do is to try new foods actually, but I could never turn away good latin food, not so much Mexican or salvadorean food, but even spanish paella, cuban ropa vieja, pastellitos ect ect...

outside latin foods, I like sushi, fried chicken variances, love pizza, and good chili burgers/fries haha.

I like trying new foods too, especially when they are made by someone who learned from their mother who learned from her mother who learned from her mother...you get the idea. Not so much from restaraunts but real people cooking with the ingredients they pick out and cooking in their kitchens.

It took me years to find out I like tortilas. As a kid, I always ate "restaruant" tortillas and never liked them. Then when I met Wifey, her dad had good ones and he heated them on a komal (spelling?) and it was like night and day the way they tasted. Guacamole is another thing. I make it now and eat it on everything. One cuisine I dont like is Indian...seems like they use too much curry in everything.

They sell these generic ones at Publics down here. I'd love to try one made by an old polish lady the right way.

I tried once with the mesa and all. I did it by hand so they were too thick. They turned out more like a flauta or something...or like a pita shell made from corn...they sucked.

I found the best ones are bought from any small shop where the owner doesnt speak English and pulls them out of a cooler( even though the cooler is more like a steamer).

"Cinco maiz" "Por Favor"

Then leave the $5 for the 5 dozen you just bought. I;ve gotten good at that . LOL.

The Mexican shops around the Tampa area are incredible. I've never gotten bad tortillas from any of them.
