Getting my tune tomorrow.
Hey, I posted this in the clubhouse cause I don't think everyone comes to the 99-04 forum.
I'm getting my car tuned tomorrow by VMP tuning for the nitrous, and wanted to take guesses on how much power I'm going to gain. The car is a basically stock Mach 1, o/r x-pipe, 4.30 gears and K&N intake tube. Let's hear 'em. I'm shooting for 440-450hp and 475-485 torque. |

Nope, stock internals. I know two guys in Dallas that are running 150 shots on stock internals and they haven't had any problems yet. I think it'll hold for a little while. Hopefully long enough for me to get another car for daily driving.
Interesting story from last night, I was trying to finish up the bottle warmer and it comes with a pressure switch and I got a gauge. After I "thought" I had everything finished and buttoned up, I got the bottle filled and wanted to test for anythig leaking. I cracked it open, and the gauge was leaking. Then I did the unthinkable. I tried to tighten the gauge, while the nitrous was spraying on the nut. Well it froze the nut, the nut broke off, and 900lbs. of pressure and a metal slug came flying into my eye. It knocked my out of the back of my car and onto my ass in the parking lot. Luckily there was noone else ther to see me looking crazy. My eye blead all night, and when I woke up it had dried and almost sealed my eye lid shut. Just a work of warning. DON'T TIGHTEN FROZEN NUTS! |

Man, you are lucky. It could have been much worse. Exactly where did you cut your head/eye. You might need to go see the doc if it is near you eye. Post some pics of your install after you have completed it. Get a vid of your dyno tune too if you can.
There are numerous guys on the mach1registry shooting 150-175 on stock internals. I know one guy in particular bumped up the shot to 175 and ran it all last season. I have not heard of any failures. It will happen at that level, it is just a matter of when. All said that good quality tune will buy you alot of time on stocker internals.

The nut hit me smack dab in the eye. I don't think I even had enough time to close my eye lid. My right eye was blacked out for about 2 full minutes. The worst part is, the sharp edges of the severed metal put a big scratch across the side of my nose. When I grabbed my eye, I pulled my hand back and all I could see was blood dripping all over my hand. This scared the hell out of me. But all I got now is a small bruise around my eye and a scratch across my nose.
