Radar detector suggestions

I'm looking for a very good radar and laser detector and was wondering what brand and model the people here would suggest.

Valentine 1 and the Escort Passport (7500/8500) series are some of the best.

I have a 7500. Had it for 3 years now, best detector I ever have owned.

DSEZ, thanks for the link! That site is awesome! I owe you one man.

Thanks for all of the suggestions for Escort and Valentine. A few of my friends have also recommended those brands and advised me to stay away from detectors from Cobra.

DanishStallion, I will definitely give the Escort 8500 x50 a look.

I picked up a Whistler 1734 at a garage sale for $15.00. Seems to work ok so far. Its' got a clone feature to let you know when a cop is trying to detect radar detectors for illegal use I guess.
