Would this be an OK donor car?

Looking to do a 4.6L swap into my V6.

Think the engine, tranny, ecu, and rear end are any good out of this

Judging by the giant chip out of the pass rear wheel I would say it looks like she ( the car, not implying that it was a female driver ) slid into a curb a curb at a high rate of sleep and flipped it a couple times... so I would say that axel is most likely shot. The motor and trans are probably alright, but I would find another read end. You could find a better donor car for the money than that. Try looking on craiglist and ebay for motor trans combos.

that made my morning lol

I was thinking the same that it got flipped, or that it got hit by a car in high speed *driver quarterpanel* and its momentum dragged itself against the wall *passenger side fender/door*.

the average person cannot buy from coparts. you have to be a licensed salvage rebuilder or something similar

This was my 2.3 -> 5.0 donor car. The only things I needed to replace were the radiator, fan, and drivers side spindle. The A/C condensor that goes in front of the radiator was fine.. and it still works.

Id buy it, fuck it, for 7k, you have one hell of a start (motor trans ecu). Plus you can sell anything you dont need.

Any one know how much a stripped S197 block weighs?

Or at least the block and rotating assembly?

you could check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market They have a listing of local and national parts. Also Web Page Re-director has a pretty good classified section.

I want to keep the engine in my closet back home while im at school during the year, and I live in a two story house and I dont want the engine messing anything up. I figure if I put some cardboard down, I can just rest the block and heads on the ground, and keep everything else in organized bins. That way I dont have to worry about the block rusting, just keep everything oiled.
