Man, thoughts and prayers to the family. I always get really nervous when my dad works under his car, even with jackstands.

I hope he is ok.

me too, When I was little and would help my dad in the garage, doing the same thing that little boy in the article was doing (handing tools and such) It always made me really nervous! He has a lift in his garage now so its a little better, It has a lot of safety features on it so it wont come crashing down but still, I can't help but worry a little bit about it

Wow that sucks. Feel bad for the kid.

When I change my oil, I prop it up on ramps and set up jackstands just in case.

I know someone that this happened to them, but they were fortunate to survive. Also, I can't remember them name of the company, but it was a pretty good sized construction company back in the day. Anyhow the owner's son drove gravel train, and was pulled over on the side of the road working on his trailer brakes, when they released when he was laying underneath the pup. He was crushed by his own truck. Unfortunately in my line of work I hear alot of horror stories.

I was under the rear of my truck, my ass about even with the bumper doing I don't even remember at this point, when the floor jack I had the truck on let loose and the truck fell. Luckily I had the jack stands out but since the rear tires were off, it had a ways to go and the truck smacked me to the ground. Scariest shit I've been through.

There are some things you just never cut corners on. Using proper jack stands being one of those things.
