Well........ I have one thing to say


For me, a 5'7 125lb 14 year old, 3 sets of 10 pushups, 1 set of 20 pushups, and 5 sets of 10 30lb barbel curls is KILLER. My arms are getting tired, but I'm going to do more.

Zip im 5'11 and i weigh 170. i'm trying to get in shape and gain mucle. some day i want to weigh around 190. 220 isn't overwieght. and long as your converting fat into muscle isn't that good? lol unless your goal is to just lose weight.

i've been slackin lately. been lazy because i've been caught up in school work. but i'll get back into running and a little bit of pushups and situps after tomorrow. got a big test .

Then when i get P90X im gonna start eating a shit load of chicken and try n gain some muscle mass

I did 20 more barbel curls(1 set) and a set of 15 pushups. The veins on my arms are sticking out a lot right now, it looks cool. I think I may be done for today, dunno. I want to gain a little muscle mass on my arms, so I know I better start eating more protein rich foods.

don't just work on your arms. work on everything. you don't want to be oddly shapen lol. i always think its funny when guys have a huge upper body and tiny legs

Well at 220 I have a little gut still. So I don't think that's going to be my normal weight, unless I pile on muscle mass. And that's not going to happen at my age and with my lifestyle.

But yes, as long as you're losing fat and gaining muscle mass (especially at my age) you're doing good. Remember something else: all this exercise also helps out bone mass, which is critical for overall health.

Yeah I see that somewhat often. This reminds me of Joe on family guy hahahaha. I have somewhat muscular legs but maybe that's just because I'm skinny. Well swimming toned them up, but the swimming pool is closed, and it had been closed for 3 months anyway because some kids burned down the playground. It looks like I have another thing to work on now lol.

plus your whole body works as one, you cant get your bis big without working your tris. Your chest can't grow with out your back. And your upper body will be lacking hardcore unless you do legs.

Had a killer workout on Friday. Went back yesterday - worked shoulders and back - which was interesting given that my "side boobs" (thanks for that term Zip) still hurt from Friday!

I have made it a point not to look at how much weight he's making me lift. I just do it. Like Nike says...

He told me he's surprised I can't lift more with the way I'm built. Which I'm not really sure what that means. I'm short and stocky and probably look strong? But I'm old and untoned so I can't lift very much....

Zippy, I'm at that same plateau. Lost 6 lbs the first week - which I can only imagine was water since I haven't lost any since. My clothes feel looser but I haven't gone down a dress size yet so I'm not excited anymore. Now I just look forward to a good workout with a hot 20 something cheering me on. It's the best $15 I can spend.

I know I'm getting stronger - I have to be - I cannot possibly lift weights like this and not have a change.

So....it took me 40 years to get like this....guessing it will take far less to get back in shape.

Yer. My strength is coming back nicely. Although obviously I get that it's different for a man. Still curling just the 35's on the road, but at home I curl 110 on a proper curling bar, including the bar.

Gut is taking longer though. But it'll get there.

i have decided to go in the do what you like routine. i have picked up bow hunting as a hobbie again. and i tell ya what shooting a bow for 3 hours is definatley a workout on your upper body. i figure between the daily practice and the walking i do non stop at work mixed with the long walks in the woods to hunt i should be on my way to some decent exercise. the eating better part is still not working too well. like i mentioned i dont care how its done i can not bring myself to eat veggies.

Good job Dennis - anything is better than nothing and you're right - bow hunting is a great upper body workout!

Went and worked out with the trainer again tonight. I swear to God and everything that is holy that kid is trying to break me. And he just may win.

I have a cramp in my right ass cheek that won't go away.

I know this sounds totally silly.. but..

There is this cookbook out there for kids, and its to get them to eat their veggies by putting them in foods they like, and the stuff is actually really good.. I know a guy who refuses to eat Veggies too.. He has gout, I blame that to his not eating veggies.

funny you mention that. i may have gout or plantar facitis not sure yet. if its gout i know why. either way im stuck going to a foot specialist and most likley have not choice but do some serious dieting

Thanks Lacey! Feeling a little better this morning - but guessing it's because the Flexeril is still hanging on this morning.

Did a bunch of stretching before bed and will do some more here in a minute. Wish I could stay home today.

Dennis I have Plantar Faciaitis too. Sucks - got mine because I have worn cheap shoes my whole life. Took all of my shoes to good will and now buy only Merrell's. Hubby didn't believe me when I told him what a difference they make. I bought him a pair and now that's all he wears.

Might check them out - they aren't cheap but they are comparable to good pair of athletic shoes so whatever.
