be careful with your hip flexors...i pulled my right one during a track meet in middle school and it still bugs me to this day! Make sure you really stretch it before you do it again next time, you don't want to pull that muscle whatsoever...

I've never heard of such a thing...usually when you do dead lifts you bend at the knees and keep your back in a fixed position and use your legs to stand up...

and yes those preacher curls can be a bitch haha, can't say i blame ya for telling him never again.

Sounds like you're comin along pretty well though Mama, keep it up !!!!

He has me do those too - but these are "stiff legged" ones....locked knees - works the back but supposed to feel it through legs too...I don't know...

It's his world - I just live in it an hour a night.

Hips are feeling much better today. I'm gonna do stretches and take care next outing. I'm thinking it was the downhill impact I'm not used to cause I've been using flat & incline on treadmill.

Getting there!

First pic, over a month ago:

Two weeks ago: Notice the muffin top.

Today! Much thinner in arms and chest.

Just remembered something...

Yesterday I wore a little brown short skirt and kind of a tight sweater - had my hair all teased out - heals - aviators on...looked pretty good for an old lady I thought....

Was walking down the sidewalk to the gym with my gym bag on one arm, purse on the other arm juggling keys and my water bottle...finally got it all together as I notice this older, silver haired fox in an expensive SUV watching me....I just kept walking acting like I didn't notice him...he rolls down the window and says "Walk tall girl - you look amazing!"

I blushed...a lot....

Hi all!!.. Im finally on the fitness wagon but having that ruff week 2. I lost 8lbs last week & have lost nothing this week, Eating the same. Week 1 just diet, no exercise, Week 2. Same diet, walked 2 miles a day at 3 1/2mph. After 4 days of walking I had gained 1lb!! Talk about frustrating..

Aw Dave I'm sorry I went religiously for 2 weeks and no one ever joined me so I quit checking in. This thread is VERY active though - post here and we'll support you!

Change your diet up - try next week eating only fruits/veggies/brown rice and beans - do that for at least 4 days and you'll see that weight come off. Exercise too!! As much as you can as often as you can - even if that's 4 times a day for a 15 min walk. You can do this!!!

Thanks everyone!

Have to say, this fit thread is keeping me honest. And it's tracking my progress in the mirror. My clothes are all fitting much better too.

Mama, I honestly don't know how much I've lost. I don't own a scale and last time I weighed myself was at a friends house. lol. Maybe its better this way.

Did some stretching before hitting the street today and my hip flexors are just fine.

the knees shouldn't be completely locked they should be slightly bent...when you go down you might not be keeping the bar close enough to your knees/shins. When i do stiff legged deadlifts i feel them in my hamstrings and glutes as much as my back. if your back is hurting from it then you are putting too much strain on your back and not using your legs enough!! as you bring the weight back up make sure at the top you are standing upright and almost bending slightly backwards

Yep - sometimes that's a good thing! Well you didn't look like you had that much to lose to begin with but if you're in smaller sizes then clearly you've lost some! And good job on the stretching!

Sweet - this is just what I needed. I'll have to practice this today. Thanks Piggy!!
