Hoping ours doesn't last that long Burnin'....my daughter had it for two days....will see how long hubby's lasts. Mine hasn't hit hard like their's did. Maybe I'll just skate past the worst of it...

That's great that you encourage your wife AC! Hubby encourages me to go to the gym. He's been great though...hate like hell that I couldn't go tonight.

I am not wanting to get ripped - but I would like to look better....it will come I'm sure - in time....like all good things

I can't wait to go back to the gym tomorrow.

Felt good today. Ate good as well!

Breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs and coffee

Snack - Pistachios

Lunch - turkey breast, green beans, carrots and steamed squash w/ water

Dinner - string bean chicken with steamed veggies at Panda Express w/ tea Gave my fortune cookie to my son.

Hungry now a little...not sure if I should eat this late though. Will have some water and hit the sack I think.

What brand do you buy? I have tried a couple - not crazy about it. I'm a "choosey Mom"

Today I had 1 scoop of Muscle Milk & 1 scoop of Designer whey mixed with 1 light chocolate milk and 1 skim milk w/ coffee for breakfast. Had 2 hard boiled eggs at about 10ish, shrimp and mixed veggies w/ egg drop soup for lunch - no rice and no fortune cookie - pistachios for a snack and a meal replacement bar for dinner.

Killer workout tonight. We did damn near every machine and free weights plus abs. Almost puked again.

Going back for more on Friday!

Dang Mama, your workout is INTENSE. Maybe I'm not working out hard enough. I've been doing arms one day, then abs the next day, but also a little running each day for cardio. My diet is good except I have 40-50g of sugar a day, so I am going to cut down on that and see if it helps any to make me more "cut".

Good to work all your muscle groups...push to "failure" which is basically just the point where your mind is telling your body to work but your body says "aw hell no - I'm done!".

you're young man...you should be eating everything in sight looking to put on mass not trying to lean out. You're lean to begin with...what you're looking for is not a "cut" but definition from muscle mass. You need to build the muscle before you can cut the fat for it. The best exercises for your age or anyone who wants to put on mass would be...Squats, Pulls up, Bent over rows, bench presses, barbell shoulder presses, stiff legged deadlifts and calf raises. You don't need to do isolation workouts yet until you put on a good deal of size. Just do those types of exercises and eat everything in sight lol..aside from junk foods.

Those are the best workouts Mama, keep up the good work. Failure is exactly that, when you want to push harder but start feeling the muscle building up a bunch of heat where you can feel the muscle tissue tearing down. You want to push that last rep but without the aid of a spotter you can't make it. Then you push out two more after that and can barely move

We'll I did good tonight then...you know, I do a lot of those exercises you mention that will bulk you up - suppose that's why I'm not losing weight and trimming down?

it's different for women...women can lift heavy and still not build muscles like men. Women are lacking the most important hormone for building muscle...testosterone. That's why female bodybuilders take steroids. You are infact building muscle but you will never get big and bulky. Muscle does in fact weigh more than fat which is why you won't see the number on the scale drop too much. You should be trimming down size though. Most women when they work out are told not to worry about the scale but measurements.

If you stick with your current program you will in fact lose weight but you will be happier about it because of how you look. No need to fear about becoming big and bulky.

edit: also forgot to say that those compound exercises are also good because they target all of the major muscle groups which exert the most energy and take the longest to rebuild.

Yeah I am young, it's just I want to have mass, but also be lean because I want to have visible abs to some extent. Oh and I'm hungry right now!! Btw, is 40-50g of sugar a day okay? I've read that before online so I've been sticking with that.

To be honest I'm not really sure what a proper sugar intake would be. I don't monitor my sugar intake much I just make sure I have a decent amount when I wake up...before a workout and post workout. Preworkout it's good because it gives you the energy for the workout and post workout it helps restore glycogen levels and elevate insulin levels which allow your muscles to absorb more protein because they need it. Same thing in the morning.

At your age I assume your metabolism is very fast so I doubt it will hurt you. If you want to put on size you have to sacrifice being very lean. You need to gain some fat to build some muscle. That's why people go through bulking phases to put on weight and then do a lot of cardio and light carb diets to cut down excess fat for the summer.

edit: It's colder here in new york now so I'm in the middle of a bulking phase where I eat about 3800 calories, 240 grams of protein, 100 grams of fat and about 500 grams of carbs a day. I'm not ripped or cut up like I was in the summer but I'm still not a fatty lol.

Too much sugar could make you fat though as any simple sugars (soda, candy, ect.) you consume and don't burn through exercise are stored as fat

Well I'm eating 6 eggs right now so there's my bulking food. I'll probably have whole grain cereal, some eggs, and maybe whole wheat toast for breakfast tomorrow. I don't want to be giant muscular wise, but I do want to gain some in every area. I definitely don't want to gain too much fat though because my cardio is limited, so it may be hard to burn off.

Usually I eat a tuna or salmon sandwich after I workout, so I think that's good to provide me with protein.

you are 100% right. and MF123 you are young u really dont have to worry about what u eat yet. when you're that young you have a pretty damn high metabolizim and all that shit u eat will just burn off. you need to listen to what Piggy said, all those evercises are what u need to b doing. to gain mass to more weight with less reps, and to tone do less weight with alot of reps. if you need advice feel free to ask, id b more than happy to help...

how much do you weigh? ur skinny right? you do not need to worry about eating food like that! trust me!.... if you are skinny and tryin to gain muscle u dont need to have a diet like the one u have..... ill break it down simple for u, eat things with protein like steak and crap like that, make sure u have some carbs like whole grain rice, wheat bread, whole grain breads but not too much.... your body needs carbs for energy... eat lots of fruits and veggies... and no matter what STAY AWAY FROM POTATOS!!!! i dont kno how much i can stress that.. DONT TOUCH THEM!... eat sweet potatos instead, they are better for you and IMO they taste better...
