trying to push that last rep and you feel it burning in your chest and throat. You try to fight it off though its inevitable but damn does it feel good when its over

I started out wrestling when i was 3 and by time i graduated highshcool i weighed right at 167. in college i grew to around 178 and would cut weight to make my weight class at 157. Im not out of college and ive been on my diet with my trainer for about a month and a half. I started out at 177 now im up to 191.

im kind of embarassed of my abs now as i have put on quite a bit of weight in a short time. Im trying to get to around 205 and then shred back down to 180

DONT TOUCH THEM!... eat sweet potatos instead, they are better for you and IMO they taste better...

I'm 5'7 125lbs, so yeah I'm skinny. I've been going along the lines of the diet you said above. For breakfast I usually have a whole grain cereal, for lunch either a peanut butter/jelly, tuna, or salmon sandwich, and for dinner it's usually chicken, turkey, venison, or beef, most of the time with a vegetable. I have a lot of fruit as snacks and sometimes granola bars. I don't drink ANY soda, just water, fruit juice and soymilk.

Well i started at the gym on monday. Im doing full cardio/weight training Mon-Fri weekends off. I get up at 6am and go in my basement to hit my 80lb bag for 30-45min then I go to work until 5. I get to the gym about 530 and work out from 6-630 to 8-830.

I do about 45- 1hr of cardio (15 warm up 30-45 cooldown) and weight train. Im excited. Im also taking supplements to give me more energy and increase metabolism. Ive cut soda out of my diet and if anything Ill drink Diet non caff.

Im 222lbs 6'2. Hoping to cut below 200 above 185 this winter.

Im so freaking sore right now its unbelievable.

why go all the way up to 205 to lose 25 lbs? If you put on lean mass it will take you a long time to get to the 205 mark and you have less to cut. I put on about 10-12 lbs of muscle a year and about 17-20 lbs total. In the summer I only need to cut down about 5-7lbs to get back to about 8-9% body fat. Just enough to show off my abs and definition while still maintaining some bulk

just eat all day. I literally eat every 2.5-3 hours. The more calories you consume the more you'll build. Stick to what you're eating just make sure you are always full. If you feel hungry then eat more lol

What's HIIT Cardio?

I had to talk myself outta puking last night too...going back for more punishment tomorrow night.

(I love it though)

MF when you say you have a tuna or salmon sandwich - are you eating that plain or making tuna salad? What do you do with the salmon? I've never made a salmon salad??

Piggy that's awesome info. I'm so clueless about all this stuff. I just show up with my money and do what I'm told. I was so impressed with myself leg pressing 200 lbs but this dude at the gym last night was tossing around those 100 lb weights like they were pillows. I think he had about 800 lbs on that machine - I wanted to puke just watching him!!

Glad I wont be getting scary looking. Last summer I think I looked the best I ever have but I was not lifting at all - straight diet and cardio. Have to see what happens.

I was DOWN half a pound today - been looking for that half a pound for about 3 weeks now - finally saw it. That makes 8 off total since mid August. Blah...

Mama HIIT training is High Intensity Interval Training. Basically the HIIT cardio I used to do was called Tabata cardio. It was designed for olympic speed skaters. You set the pace but its very very difficult. Essentially when people lift weights they are only exerting a certain amount of energy while lifting weights and during rest they are not burning calories. With cardio you have to constantly increase the resistance because your body gets used to it.

This is where tabata sprints come into play. It is a 4 minute workout started off with 5 minutes of warm up jogging and finished with 5 minutes of jogging to cool down. It is 8 rounds of 10 seconds of rest followed by 20 seconds of work. I used to do wind sprints so I would constantly push myself as hard as possible. With 2 times more work than rest it becomes extremely tiring and burns up a tremendous amount of calories and fat while still maintaining muscle mass. Unlike regular cardio where it cuts into your muscle mass.

I do this cardio while I'm bulking because it's pointless to do cardio and burn muscle mass while I'm trying to build it. It is very difficult if you really push it. By the fourth or fifth round I'm ready to fall over. I did 3-4 times a week last winter/spring and went from 13 to 8.5% body fat in 8 weeks. Granted I was on a lower carb diet as well

It's fun watching some of those guys throw those dumbells around like toys...however some of them have unfair supplemental aids though lol. Keep up the good work Mama, don't let the scale worry you too much!! It'll bother you less when you see yourself get back to the shape you wanted and wearing the same clothes you did when you were there last

Interval training is proven to burn WAY more calories than doing the same amount of time at one pace as far as cardio goes

True, but I still like to be careful anyway. I doubt I should even work out heavily at my age, but hey some can't hurt right?

you can lift as heavy as you want...just lift within your means. And I can't emphasize how important it is to stretch to stay loose.

HIIT is a lot shorter workout than LISS and has an "afterburn" effect

You will breathe more and have a higher resting heart rate and burn a few more calories for the following 10 hours or so than if you did LISS, even if your time and distance were quite a bit less.

when I do HIIT on a track, I'll do a quick warmup, walk the curves, and sprint the straights. Entire workout takes maybe 15 minutes. It definitely is a great workout if you're craving some cardio. When I do a steady jog it feels like I'd have to run 4 to 5 miles to get the same workout. I hate cardio with a passion though lol
