I just started back in the gym about 3 weeks ago. Im eating eggs and rice about 3 times a day. 1 whole rotissere chicken made into 2 meals with rice and a couple of protein shakes. I target one muscle group a day, shoulders, back, arms, chest, legs, repeat. I am trying to build lean mass so I am eating a lot, but trying to eat healthier food. I had Sushi yesterday, and usually at least once or twice a week, good for you and high in proteins. I was drinking diet coke all day and now just one in the mornings (my coffee) then 6-8 liters of water a day. Was drinking almost no water before. I have put back on about 20 lbs. I have some before shots and will post them and the after shots in a few weeks...
Also for those of you with iPhones they have some pretty good fitness programs on there. I just downloaded one that shows you specific exercises to target certain muscles and allows you to track your weight and reps and graphs your results. Havent really used it yet but will update. They probably have some other decent ones for dieting also.

What app is that for the exercises?
Here's what I've done so far today: Breakfast: 1/2 cup soy milk - chocolate. Was yummy but won't be doing that so often. whole grain oatmeal Lunch: Very Small salad - romaine, cheese, kidney beans - teaspoon ranch dressing. Snacks: 25 Wasabi Peas Low Carb Protein Bar 1 80 cal yogurt cup with fresh black berries and 1/2 cup Uncle Sam Cereal Raw carrots, celery & cucumbers with 3 T hummus Dinner Plans: Medley of grilled vegetables. Will make hubby a Boca Veggie patty as well - I think he'll crap if I only throw veg on his plate. Now I have to talk myself out of the half bottle of wine I want. Anyone care to help me that? (By talking me out of it?)

That's not good at all Safi...
Mama does not approve.I had a yummy dinner - we put corn on the cob in foil with a little spray butter - popped it on the grill. Then in a foil pan, I put a little spray butter and a little olive oil in the bottom. Threw in a sliced onion, and 1/4 each red, green and yellow pepper slices and 2 zuchinni's - few cloves of garlic, cilantro and fresh basil - foil over the top and steamed them to perfection. Freakin' awesome! I had NO MEAT or COFFEE TODAY! I also walked 45 minutes - half an hour at lunch and one 15 minute break. Baked cookies and iced them for our neighbor - that's a story for another thread - did laundry, picked up the house and folded laundry.

Well if you want to gain weight - then you need to be eating all of your meals and snacks and they need to be not so healthy.
Probably not the thread you want to look for advice in

why are you not eating meat mama? If you are not going to eat it you need to go to GNC and buy some creatine. It will give you the necessary things you are missing by not eating red meat so that you dont loose your hair, and other problems. Also Chicken and fish are a good source of protein that is low in fat if you are trying to lose weight
The program is called iFitness, it has abs, arms, back, chest, legs, shoulders, cardio, and stretches....as well as "my workouts, routines, logs, and extras"

Not healthy. As you get older Jake you will discover that exercise alone is not enough.
Again, not healthy. Just because you can keep weight off does not mean that you are necessarily healthy. Healthy food = healthy body. Key to success, Mama: don't look to the others for support. Be the support. Safi, it will change as you get older. Just concentrate on feeling good. Eat lots of carbs and protein, but make them healthy carbs and protein. And when you lift, lift heavy. If you do lots of cardio, slow it down. But as you get older you will naturally fill out. I am just under 6 feet tall. At 18, I was 175 - 180 lbs, and fairly skinny. I could not gain weight to save my life. In my 20's, I started filling out more. Now I probably couldn't get under 190 without looking too skinny. ...this will not help you attain your goal.

Ok I'm going to jump in. I'm not trying to lose weight so much as gain more lean mass but I'm terrible about what I eat so maybe writing it down will help. It's now 1:50pm and I already had:
2 pbj sandwiches a glass of juice and like 7 croisants with cheese in the middle. I work out on a regular basis but haven't been yet today. I'll write down what I accomplish in that arena later.

Brown rice>white rice.
Remember people, white rice is loaded with carbs. So if you insist on eating it, make sure you are not diabetic, and that you burn those carbs off with exercise.

I did a plan 2 years ago and lost 40 lbs and kept it off for over a year. Then I blew it. But for the first 10 days - no meat, no caffeine...then you add stuff back in slowly. Just kind of flushes all the nasties out PLUS gets you used to eating fresh fruits and veggies. I'd "loosely" working that again. Here's what I did today.... Breakfast: whole grain oatmeal, fresh strawberries - 2 packs Splenda Lunch: Small salad - romaine, 1/2 egg, kidney beans, cheese, lite ranch Dinner: (We had company so I splurged) grilled chicken thigh with BBQ sauce, cucumbers in sour cream, one spoonful of potato salad and 2 glasses of wine. Snacks: 1 yogurt cup with fresh blueberries and Uncle Sam cereal, celery, carrots and 1 small cucumber with a couplet able spoons of hummus. Exercise: Walked one 15 min break and 35 min at lunch. Thanks for the sticky Red!

Today I ate two hot dogs, drank 5 beers. Did sfa in the way of exercise.
But yesterday morning I did 3 x 14 sets with my 35's on my bi's, 3 x 10 hammer curls, and 3 x 8 concentration curls. Three sets of 14 shoulder shrugs. Then I did my tri's with the 35's, 3 sets of 14, 3 x 14 standing shoulder press, and two sets of 25 pushups.....which are a bitch after throwing the 35 lb dumbbells around. Then I did my forearms....wrist curls, and reverse curls.

Yeah I know they do, that's why I didn't drink it all in one day. I had lipton pure leaf ice tea yesterday, and the whole bottle had 36 grams of sugar. I drank half and I left it in the mustang while it was parked, so it got pretty warm, and I poured the rest out. My breakfast today was: Frosted Flakes(27g of carbs, 11g of sugar, and 0g fat) with soy milk(didn't measure it), and half of a quaker oatmeal bar(21g of carbs, .5g of trans fat, and 9g of sugar) Lunch was: 2 spicy tuna rolls, 3 spring rolls(not fried, it was a roll kind of like this: http://student-organizations.bentley.edu/vsa/rolls.jpg), and 2 pieces of thai chicken on a stick(not fried but with some green sauce) Between lunch and dinner I had rotisserie chicken with no skin and some apple sauce. Dinner: Rotisserie Chicken lmao Post-Dinner Snack: A pear I only drank water w/ a drink mix besides soy milk today. |
